Last days of summer

Last week was crazy beautiful and warm. We were sitting in the park for lunch.

Then we had lunch in the patios.

On the weekend we went for a long walk in the warm afternoon breeze. Puppies loved it and I loved it. Weather has now turned, but it was amazing summer as long as it lasted. I am definitely a big fan of the milder climate.

Viime viikko oli mielettömän kaunis ja lämmin. Istuimme puistossa lounaalla. 

Sitten söimme lounasta terasseilla. 

Viikonloppuna menimme pitkälle kävelylle lämpimässä iltapäivän tuulenvireessä. Ipanat rakastivat sitä ja minä rakastin sitä. Sää on nyt muuttunut, mutta kesä oli mahtava niin pitkään kuin sitä kesti. Olen ehdottomasti lempeämmän ilmaston kannattaja. 

Ugliest statues

In Konstanz you can also find the most ugliest and disturbing water fountain statues I've ever seen in my life. I would like to know what on earth has been going on with the artist's mind. I mean seriously. Who in their right mind gets an idea to combine human head, hooves, some animal's ass plus rather large testicles and a penis? I've said it before, but I'll say it again: there is something seriously wrong with certain people. And not to mention that somebody has actually made these, but someone else has APPROVED and PAID FOR these??

And as this wasn't enough, there was also one landmark or statue or whatever where a man (or something) was farting/shitting demons out of his ass. I have no more words.

Konstanzista löydät myös rumimmat ja häiritsevimmät vesilähdepatsaat jotka olen ikinä eläissäni nähnyt. Haluaisin todella tietää mitä taiteilijan päässä on liikkunut. Siis oikeasti. Kuka helkkari saa päähänsä yhdistää ihmispään, sorkat, jonkun elukan persauksen sekä melko isot kivekset ja peniksen? Olen sanonut tämän ennenkin, sanon tämän uudestaan: joissakin ihmisissä on jotain todella pahasti vialla. Ja sen lisäksi että joku on oikeasti tehnyt nämä, joku muu on vieläpä HYVÄKSYNYT ja MAKSANUT näistä??

Ja niin kuin tässä ei olisi riittävästi, Konstanzissa on myös jokin maamerkki tai patsas tai mikälie jossa mies (tai mikälie) piereskelee/paskoo demoneita persauksestaan. Minulla ei ole enää sanoja.

Konstanz

On Saturday we also went to Konstanz. We took the ferry and I of course took my tourist pictures. This area is very lush and full of vineyards. Amazingly beautiful!

The city itself was bigger than Meersburg, and even at this time there were a lot of people. In that sense I liked more Meersburg, but I can understand why this city attracts lot of people as well.

We went for a dinner to this really good restaurant. It was japan fusion and they had very, very good steaks. As I'm a meet eater to the core, I went with a steak. Delicious, and the chef knew what "medium rare" means.

Lauantaina menimme myös Konstanziin. Menimme lautalla ja otin tietenkin turistikuvia. Tämä alue on erittäin runsasta ja täynnä viinitarhoja. Mielettömän kaunista!

Kaupunki itsessään oli isompi kuin Meersburg, ja tähänkin vuodenaikaan siellä oli paljon ihmisiä. Siinä mielessä pidin enemmän Meersburgista, mutta pystyn ymmärtämään miksi tämä kaupunki houkuttaa ihmisiä. 

Menimme illalliselle erittäin hyvään ravintolaan. Se oli japanilaista fuusiota, ja heillä oli todella, todella hyviä pihvejä. Koska olen lihansyöjä ytimiäni myöten, valitsin pihvin. Herkullista, ja kokki todellakin tiesi mitä "medium miinus" tarkoittaa. 

Chihuahuas and friends

As I said, it was so so great seeing my friend Carolin and her husband Owen. They love my puppies, and I think this is one of the greatest photos of me and them.

It was great to talk only like girls can, have weird discussions about pooping on babies (this had a scientific approach coming from childbirth and the necessary bacteria, although it did become a running gag of the weekend), laugh, and just enjoy life. I hope that you Carolin enjoyed it as much as I did. For me this was really, really needed. As the days have been gloomy, this did restore a little bit of my faith having a life here.

Carolin, I am so happy you are in my life <3

Kuten sanoin, oli ihan tosi mahtavaa nähdä ystävääni Carolinea ja hänen aviomiestään Owenia. He rakastavat ipanoita, ja tämä onkin mielestäni mahtavin kuva ikinä minusta ja niistä. 

Oli mahtavaa jutella kuin vain tytöt osaavat, käydä omituisia keskusteluja vauvojen päälle kakkaamisesta (tässä oli alunperin tieteellinen lähestymistapa synnytyksestä ja tarpeellisesta bakteerikannasta, vaikka siitä tulikin viikonlopun kestänyt vitsi), nauraa ja vain nauttia elämästä. Toivon Carolin että nautit viikonlopusta yhtä paljon kuin minä. Minulle tämä tuli tosi, tosi tarpeeseen. Koska päivät ovat olleet synkkiä, tämä palautti vähän uskoani siihen että voin saada elämän tänne.

Bodensee

I had an amazing weekend! I drove to Bodensee to visit Carolin and Owen, and we had so much fun! I packed the puppies and myself to Furioza, and off we went. I've enjoyed the sceneries here, but I have to say that Germany in the autumn is another type of beautiful. The yellows and the reds, the hills and the autobahns, the blue skies and the mountains in the horizon. Last year I didn't get to see much and I was also too shattered to look for anything other than the world right outside my nose. In a way this is my first autumn here, and I have to say that despite everything else, I can genuinely admit that Germany is very, very beautiful.

When I arrived to my friends place in Markdorf, we unpacked the puppies, went for a quick lunch and then headed out to Meersburg. It was stunning. Lots of people, even though it wasn't even the high season. The temperature was around 20 degrees. Awesome summer day!

The puppies are excellent traveling buddies. They sleep while in the car, they walk happily when need be. Ok, sometimes they bark a little at other dogs, but other than that you couldn't get better companions! They were admired and told many times how cute they are.

Minulla oli mahtava viikonloppu! Ajoin Bodenseelle tapaamaan Carolinia ja Owenia, ja meillä oli todella hauskaa! Pakkasin ipanat ja itseni Furiozaan ja kävimme matkaan. Olen nauttinut maisemista, mutta on sanottava että Saksa syksyllä on ihan erilaista kauneutta. Keltaiset ja punaiset, kukkulat ja moottoritiet, siniset taivaat ja horisontissa siintävät vuoret. Viime vuonna en juuri nähnyt mitään ja ja olin myös niin sirpaleina etten juuri pystynyt katsomaan maailmaa itseni ulkopuolella. Tavallaan tämä on ensimmäinen syksyni täällä, ja on sanottava että huolimatta kaikesta muusta, voin aidosti myöntää että Saksa on hyvin, hyvin kaunis.

Kun saavuin ystävieni luo Markdorfiin, purimme ipanat autosta, menimme nopealle lounaalle ja sitten suuntasimme Meersburgiin. Se oli mieletöntä. Paljon ihmisiä, vaikka ei olekaan lomasesonki. Lämpötila oli 20 asteessa. Mahtava kesäpäivä!

Ipanat ovat erinomaisia matkakumppaneita. Ne nukkuvat autossa, ne kävelevät onnellisina kun on tarve. Ok, joskus ne haukkuvat muita koiria, mutta muuten ei juuri voisi parempia kumppaneita saada! Heitä ihailtiin ja heille kerrottiin monesti miten suloisia he ovat.

Movies

On Monday evening I went to the movies with my colleagues, the Three Musketeers. Unfortunately one of us was unable to join, but I still had two of my Musketeers with me.

We went to see the new Blade Runner. And let me tell you: it was, if not the crappiest movie I've ever seen, at least very close to the top. It was slow as hell. I mean seriously, you could've easily cut out 45min to an hour and still you wouldn't have noticed it. It was dark. And when I mean dark, I don't mean dark like Seven, but I mean badly lit. It didn't have proper lighting in any scene. People say that the soundtrack was amazing. No it wasn't. It wasn't sound, it was noise. I was bored to death and seriously, I almost walked out from the theater. What a bunch of artsy fartsy bullshit.

Maanantai-iltana menin elokuviin kollegoideni, Kolmen Muskettisoturin, kanssa. Valitettavasti yksi meistä ei päässyt mukaan, mutta minulla oli silti kaksi Muskettisoturiani mukana. 

Menimme katsomaan uuden Blade Runnerin. Ja antakaapa kun kerron: se oli, jos ei kaikkien aikojen paskin elokuva, ainakin hyvin lähellä kärkeä. Se oli helvetillisen hidas. Siis niin kuin oikeasti, vaikka siitä leikattaisiin 45min-tunti pois, sitä ei silti huomaisi. Se oli pimeä. Enkä tarkoita synkkää kuten Seitsemän, vaan huonosti valaistua. Yhdessäkään skenessä ei ollut kunnon valaistusta. Joiden mielestä soundtrack oli mahtava. No ei ollut. Se ei ollut ääntä, se oli meteliä. Kyllästyin kuoliaaksi ja oikeasti, lähes kävelin ulos teatterista. Mikä kasa taidepaskaa. 

Sundays and cakes

On Sunday I took my Furioza and went to the fabric market with my Finnish friend. I forgot to take pictures as it was freezing, but this time I came home empty handed. It was the same fabric market I went to last year but then it was in Freising. This time it was on the north side of Munich. As crowded as before, and almost as crappy weather as before. This time no rain, but freezing wind and as I've become completely spoiled with the milder climate, I almost froze my ass off.

After the fabric market we went to have a cup of coffee with my friend. And some cake. I have to say: despite all the struggles they have the best cakes here. Self-made, juicy, fresh and ridiculously cheap. Slice of heaven. This apple cake was no exception.

Sunnuntaina otin Furiozani ja kävin suomalaisen ystäväni kanssa kangasmarkkinoilla. Unohdin ottaa kuvia sillä keli oli jäätävää, mutta tällä kertaa tulin kotiin tyhjin käsin. Kyseessä oli samat markkinat kuin viime vuonna Freisingissä. Tällä kertaa ne olivat Münchenin pohjoispuolella. Aivan yhtä ruuhkaisaa kuin aiemminkin, ja lähes yhtä surkea keli kuin viimeksikin. Tällä kertaa ei sadetta, mutta jäätävä tuuli ja koska olen täysin pilalle hemmoteltu lempeämmän ilmaston suhteen, perseeni lähes jäätyi.

Kangasmarkkinoiden jälkeen kävimme hörppäämässä kupit kahvia ystäväni kanssa. Ja syömässä palat kakkua. On myönnettävä: huolimatta kaikista vaikeuksista, täällä on parhaat kakut. Itsetehdyt, mehukkaat, tuoreet ja naurettavan halvat. Pala taivasta. Tämä omenakakku ei ollut poikkeus.
