Dentist

It seems that my life keeps evolving around my puppies' teeth. As Hannibal had her check-up in last March and Hirmu had her second surgery in last January, it was time to go and get their teeth checked out. As suspected, Hirmu is having problems with her teeth. The periodontitis is eating again its way through her teeth, gums and jawbone. Her teeth got cleaned and x-rayed. Some of her teeth were again removed, but it wasn't as violent operation as the previous ones. She also got antibiotics to stop the bacteria, and she will need another check-up in half a year. Lets not discuss how much she is worth in euros by kilos... But, she is my precious and as long as these operations make sense and are not causing suffering for her, she will get everything she needs.

Hannibal had her teeth cleaned and few of the lower front teeth were removed. This is common with small dogs, and it was nothing big to worry about. She doesn't have periodontitis, and the next time she needs dental care is again in a year.

Now they are recovering from the operation and sleeping the drugs off.

And it seems that spring is already making its way to Munich! It must be way too early, and I'm pretty sure snow will still come at some point, but it doesn't seem to stop the early birds.

Näyttää siltä että elämäni jatkaa pyörimistään ipanoiden hampaiden ympärillä. Koska Hannibalin edellinen tarkastus oli maaliskuussa ja Hirmun toinen leikkaus tammikuussa, oli aika käydä hammaslääkärissä. Kuten odotettua, Hirmulla on ongelmia hampaidensa kanssa. Parodontiitti syö jälleen tietään läpi hampaiden, ikenien ja leukaluun. Hirmun hampaat puhdistettiin ja kuvattiin. Osa hampaista poistettiin, mutta kyseessä ei ollut niin väkivaltainen operaatio kuin edelliset olivat. Hirmu sai myös antibiootteja estämään bakteerin etenemistä, ja Hirmu tarvitsee uuden tarkastuksen puolen vuoden kuluttua. Ei keskustella siitä paljonko Hirmun kilohinta on... Mutta, Hirmu on rakkaimpani, ja niin kauan kuin nämä operaatiot ovat järkeviä eivätkä aiheuta kärsimyksiä, Hirmu saa kaiken mitä tarvitsee.

Hannibalin hampaat puhdistettiin ja muutama alaetuhampaista poistettiin. Tämä on yleistä pikkukoirilla, eikä se ole mitään mistä huolestua. Hannibalilla ei ole parodontiittia, ja seuraavan kerran Hannibal tarvitsee hammaslääkäriä vuoden kuluttua.

Nyt molemmat toipuvat operaatiosta ja nukkuvat lääkepöhnäänsä pois.

Ja näyttää siltä että kevät on jo saapumassa Müncheniin! On aivan liian aikaista, ja olen melko varma että lunta tulee vielä jossain vaiheessa, mutta se ei näytä estävän aikaisia lintuja.

Berlin

Yes, I've been again too busy girl what it comes updating my blog. However, last week I was in Berlin. It was a very quick visit to attend a round table meeting with the guys and girls from our Berlin studio. We had to get up crazy early in the morning, spent the entire day in meeting, went for dinner in the evening, were at the hotel around ten in the evening and left on the following morning. How much did I see of Berlin? Not so much. This is the only picture of the city that I managed to take.

Hotel was pretty neat though. 

While I was in Berlin, my man was taking care of the puppies. He took them to his work, and apparently they were behaving better than ever, and everybody loved them. There were people even asking when are they coming to his work again!

Kyllä, olen ollut taas kovin kiireinen mitä tulee blogini päivittämiseen. Viime viikolla olin Berliinissä. Se oli pikavisiitti jotta osallistuin kokoukseen Berliinin studiomme porukan kanssa. Meidän piti herätä järkyttävän aikaisin aamulla, viettää koko päivä kokouksessa, mennä illalla illalliselle, olla hotellilla iltakymmeneltä ja lähteä seuraavana aamuna. Kuinka paljon näin Berliinistä? En kovinkaan paljon. Tämä on ainoa kuva jonka onnistuin ottamaan.

Hotelli oli aika siisti. 

Kun olin Berliinissä, mieheni hoiti ipanoita. Hän otti ne mukaansa töihin, ja ilmeisesti ipanat käyttäytyivät paremmin kuin koskaan, ja kaikki tykkäsivät niistä! Ihmiset jopa kyselivät koska ne tulevat uudestaan hänen mukaansa töihin! 

Presidential election

I am badly behind with my blog updates! Time has flown and lots of stuff has been happening. So, lets start from last weekend. It was time to vote! Finland will have presidential election pretty soon, and as a Finnish living abroad, we're entitled giving our vote. And that we did. We went to the consulate here in Munich, and met lot of Finnish people there.

It took several envelopes for the procedure to be completed. First the vote itself were put to an envelope. Then this envelope was put to another envelope which was stamped with the officer's signature. Then this envelope was put to yet another envelope and this will then be shipped to Finland.

Olen pahasti jäljessä blogipäivityksissäni! Aika on mennyt ihan siivillä ja paljon asioita on tapahtunut. Joten, aloitetaanpa viime viikonlopusta. Oli aika äänestää! Suomessa valitaan uusi presidentti varsin pian, ja ulkomailla asuvana suomalaisina olemme oikeutettuja antaa äänemme. Ja niin teimme. Menimme konsulaattiin täällä Münchenissä, ja tapasimme paljon suomalaisia siellä.

Siihen meni useampi kirjekuori että proseduuri saatiin valmiiksi. Ensin ääni itsessään laitettiin kirjekuoreen. Sitten tämä kirjekuori laitettiin toiseen kirjekuoreen johon tuli leima ja vaalivirkailijan allekirjoitus. Sitten tämä kirjekuori laitettiin vielä toiseen kirjekuoreen ja tämä lähtee Suomeen.

Puppy update

As I'm sure there are plenty of people who are eagerly waiting to hear how the puppies are doing, I can tell that everything is fine with them. They were a bit stressed during the first few hours back at home, but soon calmed down and life is now rolling as before. They are just as eager to get their fair share of bunny droppings buffet. 

They were also eagerly awaited at the studio. Now they rule again their kingdom, and have their daily cuddles. 

They met also my man, and they like him a lot, as I expected. He is familiar with small dogs, and my puppies feel secure with him. We also invented a new meaning to their life: they can be placeholders for his evening whisky!

Koska olen varma että moni teistä odottaa uutisia siitä miten ipanat voivat, voin kertoa että kaikki on hyvin. He olivat vähän stressaantuneita ensimmäisten tuntien aikana paluumme jälkeen, mutta rauhoittuivat pian ja nyt elämä sujuu kuten ennenkin. Ipanat ovat yhtä innokkaita saamaan osansa jäniksenpapanabuffetista. 

Ipanoita odotettiin myös kovasti studiolle. Nyt he hallitsevat kuningaskuntaansa, ja saavat päivittäiset rapsutuksensa. 

Ipanat tapasivat myös mieheni, ja he pitävät hänestä kovasti kuten arvelinkin. Hän on tottunut pieniin koiriin, ja ipanat tuntevat olonsa turvalliseksi hänen kanssaan. Kehitimme myös uuden tarkoituksen ipanoille: he voivat toimia viskilasinkannattajina! 

The Return of The Two Terrors

So we have returned to Germany. Visit to Finland was short and cold. I got to see some friends and I was honored to participate in Hertta's birthday party! She turned four and is a big girl! 

Most importantly I got to see my puppies again. I have missed them dearly, and now my family is complete. I was worried if they would even remember me anymore after such a long time, but they did remember me. Either one of them don't really know how to whine, but Hirmu kept crying after me. When I was in the toilet, she sat outside the door and cried. When I went upstairs, she sat at the bottom of the stairs and cried. 

Our flight was the smoothest ever, it was almost empty so we were allowed to change seats and sat a little bit more in the front. When you fly with dogs in the cabin, you're always seated on the last possible row due to the allergies. However, somehow the noice of the motors resonates more to the back, and other one of my puppies is very stressed by the sound of it. Now that it was so empty, the flight attendants allowed me to shift seats and that worked out perfectly. It was more quiet and the puppies were more relaxed.

Ja niin olemme palanneet Saksaan. Vierailu Suomeen oli lyhyt ja kylmä. Tapasin vanhoja ystäviäni ja sain kunnian osallistua Hertan syntymäpäiville. Hän täytti neljä ja on jo iso tyttö!

Kaikista tärkein oli kuitenkin se että näin vihdoin taas ipanat. Olen kaivannut heitä kovasti, ja nyt perheeni on kokonainen. Olin huolissani siitä mahtaisivatko he edes muistaa minua näin pitkän ajan jälkeen, mutta he muisitivat. Kumpikaan heistä ei oikein osaa vinkua, mutta Hirmu itki perääni. Kun olin vessassa, hän istui oven takana ja itki. Kun olin yläkerrassa, hän istui portaiden alapäässä ja itki. 

Lentomme oli pehmein ikinä, se oli niin tyhjä että saimme vaihtaa paikkaa ja istua hieman enemmän edessä. Kun lennät koirien kanssa, sinut laitetaan aina istumaan viimeiselle mahdolliselle riville allergioiden takia. Moottoreiden ääni kuitenkin jotenkin resonoi todella kovasti taakse, ja toinen ipanoistani on kovin stressaantunut siitä äänestä. Nyt kun oli niin tyhjää, lentoemännät antoivat meidän vaihtaa paikkaa ja se oli täydellistä. Oli paljon hiljaisempaa ja ipanat olivat paljon rennompia.

Shoes and puppies

As I have mentioned, my addiction is shoes. And apparently the more expensive, the better. When we were on our roadtrip to Italy, I realized that there was a flagship store for this one brand that I absolutely adore right next to us. This meant only one thing: our navigator was set to that address.

It might not look much, much oh boy was it great inside. Although, only after our return to Munich did I realize that there would've been a factory outlet to this very same brand nearby as well... Well. I guess it means we have to go back to Italy pretty soon. But I didn't have to come home empty handed from this flagship store either. Look at these beautiful ones that came home with me. 

On another note my family will be finally reunited this upcoming weekend. I'm flying to Finland on Friday, and coming back already on Sunday morning and my puppies are coming home with me! I can't wait, and I have waited for this day for so long. I will never let them out of my sight ever again! Next blog update will then come on Sunday after our arrival and settling down.

Kuten olen maininnut, addiktioni ovat kengät. Ja mitä ilmeisemmin mitä kalliimmat, sitä parempi. Kun olimme roadtripillämme Italiassa, tajusin että meidän vieressä oli erään rakastamani merkin kauppa. Se tarkoitti vain yhtä asiaa: navigaattorimme ohjelmoitiin kaupan osoite. 

Se ei ehkä näytä paljolta, mutta voi pojat miten hieno se oli sisältä. Olkootkin että vasta Müncheniin paluumme jälkeen tajusin että meitä lähellä olisi ollut myös saman merkin tehtaanmyymälä... No. Se tarkoittanee sitä että meidän täytyy mennä Italiaan uudelleen melko pian. Mutta ei minun tarvinnut tyhjin käsin tulla kotiin tästäkään kaupasta. Katsokaa näitä kaunottaria jotka tulivat mukanani kotiin.

Asiasta toiseen: saan perheeni jälleen kasaan tulevana viikonloppuna. Lennän Suomeen perjantaina, ja tulen takaisin jo sunnuntaiaamuna ja ipanat tulevat mukanani kotiin! En malta odottaa, ja olenkin odottanut tätä päivää niin kauan. En päästä niitä enää ikinä silmistäni! Seuraava blogipäivitys tuleekin sitten sunnuntaina paluumme ja asettumisemme jälkeen.

Last days of holiday

And so our holiday is turning to an end, like all good things. The weather has been very mild here in Munich and sun has been shining. Naturally it was a good day to go to the movies then! We went to see Jumanji - Welcome to the Jungle. It was hilarious, very light and exactly what I was expecting. Awesome!

We decided to end our holiday on a high note, just like we started it. Some champagne to start with.

And some chateaubriand and salad to go with it. 

We both have been a little sick during the holiday. I guess I have been under a lot of stress and it's finally getting easier as now I'm dealing with the second cold of the holiday... Oh joy. However, the holiday has been simply just amazing. We've enjoyed the company of each other tremendously, and there has not been a single quarrel. The roadtrip went smooth and we had lots of fun. We've spent only 5 hours separately during these past two weeks. We've shared the tiny hotel rooms with even smaller bathrooms and me, who is very jealous of her own time, could not have been happier. I think this was a perfect crash course on how to build a foundation for a lasting relationship, and I can't wait to see what the future brings us.

Ja niin lomamme on kääntymässä loppuun, kuten kaikki hyvät asiat. Sää on ollut varsin leuto täällä Münchenissä ja aurinko on paistanut. Luonnollisesti oli siis hyvä päivä mennä elokuviin! Kävimme katsomassa Jumanjin. Se oli hilpeä, erittäin kevyt ja juuri sitä mitä odotinkin. Mahtavaa!

Päätimme lopettaa lomamme kohokohtaan, juuri kuten aloitimmekin sen. Hieman shamppanjaa alkuun. 

Ja hieman chateubriandia ja salaattia mukaan. 

Olemme molemmat olleet hieman kipeitä loman aikana. Olen vissiin ollut melkoisen paineen alaisena ja nyt se vihdoin on päässyt purkautumaan sillä minulla on nyt loman toinen nuha... Oi onnea. Loma on kuitenkin ollut yksinkertaisesti mahtava. Olemme nauttineet toistemme seurasta suunnattomasti, eikä meillä ole ollut yhtään riitaa. Roadtrip meni pehmeästi ja meillä oli varsin hauskaa. Olemme viettäneet vain 5 tuntia erossa toisistamme näiden kahden viikon aikana. Olemme jakaneet pienet hotellihuoneet ja vielä pienemmät kylpyhuoneet ja minä, joka on kovin mustasukkainen omasta ajastaan, en olisi voinut olla onnellisempi. Luulen että tämä oli täydellinen pikakurssi siihen kuinka rakentaa kestävän parisuhteen perustukset, enkä malta odottaa mitä tulevaisuus tuo mukaan.  

Roadtrip to Italy - Venice

Our last attraction for our roadtrip was Venice. I have never been there, nor had my man, so we were both very excited about spending few days there. Hotels were expensive, but we did manage one that had a private bathroom and not a shared one. It seems these Italians are very fond of sharing their bathrooms which obviously is not our thing at all. Venice was little bit over 100km from Verona, and we decided to leave our car outside of Venice in a public parking lot and take a bus to cross the bridge to arrive to Venice itself. It was a good decision and luckily enough our hotel was close to the bus station so it was easy to get to the city by bus and all our luggage with us. As we were spending only few days in Venice, we wanted to make the most out of it and went for a walk already on the same day. Venice was, simply put it, breathtaking.

We did also get traditional Venetian masks for the New Year's party. In the end we didn't use them there, but they are magnificent. We will hang them to our wall to remind us about our very first trip together and remind us of the magic of Venice. The saleswoman who sold these to us did ask us if we were on our honeymoon because we looked so happy. Well. It was close to a honeymoon and we were and are very happy. 

On our second day we did some more sightseeing and also some shopping. For example I found some glass earrings which was what I was looking for, and my man found a pair of leather gloves among others. 

We did also find a restaurant we ended up having breakfasts, lunches and dinners at. Gino's Trattoria and Pizzeria was around the corner from our hotel, and the recommendations in Google were astounding. They had the best pizza ever, the best pasta ever and the best hot chocolate I have ever had in my entire life. It was thick, it was greasy, it was creamy and it was to die for. As we did go there so often, they started to remember us and on our last evening they wanted to play a practical joke on us and when we ordered yet one more round of hot chocolates, they brought in first the tiny cups and laughed out lout when we thought that was the only thing we were getting. 

Awesome restaurant, super friendly service and the best hot chocolate of them all. Highly recommended!

We did go to see the famous fireworks of Venice, but so did tens of thousands of others. We thought we were early enough, but in the end we really were not that early and did not get a very good spot for seeing the fireworks. After some heavy peer pressure we did manage to climb over a crowd fence and did see part of the fireworks that were, true to their reputation, big and lasted a long time. 

Happy New Year everybody. Our New Year was magical, full of wonders and full of feelings. Our pink marshmallow cloud is floating us both and it carried us back home safe and sound.

Viimeinen matkakohteemme oli Venetsia. En ole koskaan käynyt siellä, eikä ole mieheni, joten olimme molemmat innoissamme siitä että vietimme muutaman päivän siellä. Hotellit olivat kalliita, mutta onnistuimme löytämään huoneen jossa oli oma kylpyhuone eikä jaettu. Näyttää siltä että nämä italialaiset ovat innokkaita jakamaan kylpyhuoneensa mikä ei selkeästikään ole meidän juttumme. Venetsia oli hieman yli 100km:n päässä Veronasta, ja päätimme jättää automme Venetsian ulkopuolelle yleiselle parkkipaikalle ja mennä loppumatka sillan yli itse Venetsiaan bussilla. Se oli hyvä päätös ja onneksemme hotellimme oli lähellä bussiasemaa joten oli helppo päästä kaupunkiin matkatavaroidemme kera. Koska vietimme vain muutaman päivän Venetsiassa, halusimme ottaa siitä kaiken irti ja niinpä menimme kävelylle heti ensimmäisenä päivänä. Venetsia oli yksinkertaisesti henkeäsalpaava. 

Hankimme myös perinteiset venetsialaiset naamiot Uuden Vuoden juhlia varten. Loppujen lopuksi emme käyttäneet niitä, mutta ne ovat upeat. Aiomme ripustaa ne seinällemme jotta ne muistuttavat meitä ensimmäisestä yhteisestä matkastamme ja jotta ne muistuttavat meitä Venetsian taiasta. Myyjätär joka ne meille myi, kysyi meiltä olimmeko häämatkalla sillä näytimme niin onnellisilta. No. Melko lähellä häämatkaa olimmekin, ja olimme ja olemme erittäin onnellisia. 

Toisena päivänämme kävimme katsomassa lisää nähtävyyksiä ja myös shoppailimme. Esimerkiksi löysin lasisia korvakoruja joita etsinkin, ja mieheni löysi muunmuassa nahkahansikkaat. 

Löysimme myös ravintolan jossa päädyimme syömään aamiaiset, lounaat ja illalliset. Gino's Trattoria ja Pizzeria oli aivan kulman takana hotellistamme, ja Googlen suositukset olivat korkeat. Heillä oli parasta pizzaa, parasta pastaa ja paras kaakao jonka olen ikinä eläissäni saanut. Se oli paksua, se oli rasvaista, se oli kermaista ja se oli kuolettavan hyvää. Koska kävimme siellä niin usein, henkilökunta alkoi muistaa meidät ja viimeisenä iltanamme he jekuttivat meitä tilatessamme jälleen kaakaot. Ensimmäisenä pöytään tuotiin pikkuriikkiset kupit kaakaota ja he nauroivat ääneen kun luulimme että emme saa muuta. 

Mahtava ravintola, todella ystävällinen palvelu ja paras kaakao ikinä. Suosittelemme!

Kävimme myös katsomassa kuuluisat Venetsian ilotulitukset, mutta niin kävi myös kymmenet tuhannet muut. Luulimme että olimme ajoissa, mutta loppujen lopuksi emme olleetkaan niin ajoissa emmekä saaneet järin hyvää paikkaa ilotulitusten katsomiselle. Yleisössä tapahtuneen paineen takia jouduimme kiipeämään aidan yli ja näimmekin osan ilotulituksista, jotka olivat uskolliset maineelleen, isot ja kestivät kauan. 

Hyvää Uutta Vuotta jokaiselle. Meidän Uusi Vuotemme oli maaginen, täynnä ihmeitä ja täynnä tunteita. Leijumme molemmet pinkillä vaahtokarkkipilvellämme ja se toi meidät takaisin kotiin turvallisesti. 

Roadtrip to Italy - Verona

After Lake Garda we headed to Verona. As everything seems to be surprisingly close in Italy, Verona was only 20km away from Lake Garda. Our hotel was nice and comfy apartment hotel located only 10 minute walk from the center. Verona was very, very beautiful.

It had an amphitheater and of course we went inside as we are both interested in these kind of old things. It was amazing to see this masterpiece, and it's crazy to think that while us Finnish people were living in huts, Romans were building these.

We walked around some just to see the city and its surroundings. I enjoyed it tremendously.

We did also again play our parts as tourists and went to see Julia's and Romeo's balcony. As did several others. 

And then there was the food. Pizza is amazing, and in the evening we went to a small restaurant right next to our hotel. It was a recommendation from Google, and it did not fail us. Good food and plenty of it, good wine for my man and very reasonably priced. I like this city and I like this country.

Garda-järven jälkeen suuntasimme Veronaan. Koska kaikki vaikuttaa olevan hämmästyttävän lähellä Italiassa, Veronakin oli vain 20km päässä Garda-järveltä. Hotellimme oli mukava ja kodikas huoneistohotelli joka sijaitsi vain 10 minuutin kävelymatkan päässä keskustasta. Verona oli erittäin, erittäin kaunis. 

Siellä oli amfiteatteri ja tottakai menimme sisään koska olemme molemmat kiinnostuneet tällaisista vanhoista asioista. Oli mahtavaa nähdä tämä mestariteos, ja on hullua ajatella että me suomalaiset asuimme majoissa kun roomalaiset rakensivat näitä. 

Kävelimme ympäriinsä vain katsellaksemme kaupunkia ja sen ympäristöä. Nautin siitä suunnattomasti. 

Teimme jälleen turistijuttuja ja kävimme katsomassa Julian ja Romeon parvekkeen. Kuten monet muutkin. 

Ja sitten oli ruoka. Pizza oli taivaallista, ja illalla menimme pieneen ravintolaan aivan hotellimme vieressä. Se löytyi Googlen suosituksista, eikä se pettänyt odotuksiamme. Hyvää ruokaa runsain mitoin, hyvää viiniä miehelleni ja erittäin järkevästi hinnoiteltu. Pidän tästä kaupungista ja pidän tästä maasta.
