Movies, puppies and barbecues

Life has been going on as usual after the holidays. There's been motorbiking, there's been movies, there's been time with the puppies. It's been super warm still, and barely any rain. Weird summer. Don't get me wrong, I love the warmth, but it just is something quite unnatural to have it for so long and it to be so hot. For movies we have seen the new Mission Impossible. Super great action, unfortunately for me it was way too long. Too much talking. The Meg was silly, as to be expected, but luckily they were not serious in any way.

As said, it's been puppy time too.

I also have made myself new nails couple of weeks ago. As more is more, these nails are more. They resemble the ocean with golden beach, and they are very shiny in real life. I love them! 

As life has settled down, I can truly say now that my life is here. I still don't have a huge amount of people here, but I have a few that I'm lucky enough to be able to call my people. There's been BBQs and lots of laughs. 

However, there has also been huge turbulence which was ongoing throughout almost my whole holiday and of course affected everything. The company I work for filed for bankruptcy. In the end everything turned out to be fine as they found an investor who bought us, but there were several weeks of uncertainty, and there still are lot of question marks in the air. The biggest impact on everyday life was that the salaries were not paid on time. As I had bought only five pair of shoes from Italy, I had no problems! In truth it was a big thing and I even needed help from my man to get going. Future is always uncertain, but I do feel it is even more uncertain after all of this.

Elämä on jatkunut tuttuja uomiaan lomien jälkeen. Olemme käyneet moottoripyöräilemässä, olemme käyneet elokuvissa, olemme viettäneet aikaa ipanoiden kanssa. Sää on ollut todella lämmin eikä ole satanut juuri lainkaan. Omituinen kesä. Älkää käsittäkö väärin, rakastan lämpöä, mutta se on ollut vaan melko luonnotonta että sitä on jatkunut näin pitkään ja näin kuumana. Elokuvissa olemme käyneet katsomassa uuden Mission Impossiblen. Mahtavaa toimintaa, mutta minulle se oli valitettavasti liian pitkä. Liikaa puhetta. The Meg oli höpsö, kuten odottaa saattaa, mutta onneksi elokuvaa ei oltu tehty vakavissaan. 

Kuten sanottu, on ollut myös ipana-aikaa. 

Olen myös tehnyt itselleni uudet kynnet pari viikkoa sitten. Koska enemmän on enemmän, nämä kynnet ovat enemmän. Ne muistuttavat merta kultaisilla hiekkarannoilla ja ne ovat todella kimaltavat todellisuudessa. Rakastan niitä! 

Koska elämä on asettunut, voin nyt sanoa rehellisesti että elämäni on täällä. Minulla ei ole valtavaa kasaa ihmisiä täällä, mutta minulla on muutama joita voin onnekkaasti kutsua ihmisiksini. On ollut grillijuhlia ja paljon naurua. 

On kuitenkin ollut myös turbulenssia joka on jatkunut lähes koko lomani ajan ja se tietenkin vaikutti kaikkeen. Studio, jossa työskentelen, hakeutui konkurssiin. Loppujen lopuksi kaikki kääntyi parhain päin sillä löytyi sijoittaja joka osti meidät, mutta epävarmuus kesti useamman viikon ja vieläkin on runsain määrin kysymysmerkkejä ilmassa. Suurin vaikutus arkeen oli se että palkkoja ei maksettu ajallaan. Koska olin ostanut vain viisi paria kenkiä Italiasta, ei minulla ollut mitään ongelmia! Todellisuudessa kyseessä oli iso asia ja tarvitsin jopa mieheni apua jotta pärjäsin. Tulevaisuus on aina epävarmaa, mutta minusta tuntuu että se on kaiken tämän jälkeen vieläkin epävarmempaa. 

Back and forth

After the weekend in Finland, we flew back to Germany with my friend. We had couple of days before she had to return to Canada, and we did some touristy stuff. We went to Regensburg for a day trip and the puppies came with us to have an adventure. Regensburg was very beautiful and a place I definitely want to visit again. And as everywhere here, also Regensburg was a very dog-friendly place.

Our last day together we spent in Munich. We went to Marienplatz, we did some sightseeing and my friend wanted to have a real authentic Wiener Schnitzel and that she got. 

Sadly then it was time for her to go back home. But not to worry, I didn't stay home alone but we went to the airport together and I headed back to Finland. We had agreed with my man that I would spend the last week of my holiday with him at his summer house, and that's where I flew. 

It's located near Kuopio, and I have never been in that part of Finland. I now understand better where the name "land of thousands of lakes" comes from. When the plane was getting more and more near, I could only think to myself "how on earth they have even found enough dry land to build an airport here?!". But it was breathtakingly beautiful. The summer house was located in a private island, and it was a stunning place. I absolutely fell in love with the place - me, who has never been into summer cottages, not even a tiny bit. To be fair, this wasn't a cottage but a real house. I couldn't get enough of the sceneries. I did also meet my man's mother and father and their new partners and also his sister with her husband. Very exciting! 

We did go to the city of Kuopio once. I saw the famous market place of Kuopio for the very first time and we enjoyed some Finnish pancakes, crepes, there. The weather was amazing the whole week. Summer weather in Finland can be very notorious and often we joke that Finnish summer only lacks snow. This year the heat wave that was heating Europe made its way to Finland as well. 

My man has been going fishing basically all his life whereas I have not. However, I wanted to go with him just to see how it is and it actually turned out to be quite fun! We went fishing every night and we actually got something every time. Enough to feed all of us, although it did leave me a completely unrealistic view of fishing: apparently you do get back empty handed too. We didn't, not even once!

We even got this monster pike on one night! It weighed almost 9 kilos, and let me tell you: it was one scary... monster. That's the closest word to describe it. Did you know that pikes have teeth in six rows?! I didn't. Now I do. Damn. Finnish crocodile...

Even though we weren't in the northern parts of Finland, the famous Finnish summer nights were amazing here too. It felt the sun didn't really go down at all and it was light throughout the night. On our last evening we actually ended up staying up almost the whole night - we went to sauna and swimming (yes, me!!!!! I both went to sauna and swimming!) back and forth, and just awed the sunset, the night, the sunrise, the light. It was an amazing week in an amazing place. And yes, I took the puppies with me to the summer house and they had a blast. They swam in the lake every day and enjoyed roaming free. I can't wait to get to go there again! The last week of our holiday was super, but like everything, also it came to an end and then it was time to head back home, back to Munich.

Suomessa vietetyn viikonlopun jälkeen lensimme takaisin Saksaan ystäväni kanssa. Meillä oli pari päivää aikaa ennen kuin hänen oli aika palata Kanadaan, ja niinpä leikimme turisteja. Menimme Regensburgiin päiväretkelle ja otimme ipanat mukaamme seikkailulle. Regensburg oli todella kaunis kaupunki ja ehdottomasti paikka jossa haluan vierailla uudestaan. Ja kuten kaikki muutkin paikat täällä, myös Regensburg oli erittäin koiraystävällinen. 

Viimeisen yhteisen päivämme vietimme Münchenissä. Menimme Marienplatzille, kiersimme joitakin nähtävyyksiä ja ystäväni halusi aidon saksalainen wienerschnitzelin ja sellaisen hän myös sai. 

Sitten hänen olikin ikävä kyllä aika lähteä takaisin kotiin. Mutta ei hätää, en jäänyt yksin kotiin vaan menimme lentokentälle yhdessä ja minä suuntasin takaisin Suomeen. Olimme sopineet mieheni kanssa että viettäisin viimeisen lomaviikkona hänen kanssaan hänen kesämökillään ja sinne siis lensin. 

Se sijaitsee lähellä Kuopiota, enkä ole koskaan ollut siellä päin Suomea. Ymmärrän nyt paremmin mistä termi "tuhansien järvien maa" tulee. Kun lentokone tuli lähemmäksi ja lähemmäksi, saatoin vain ajatella itsekseni että "miten ihmeessä täältä on löydetty tarpeeksi kuivaa maata jotta lentokentän rakentaminen on onnistunut?!". Mutta maisemat olivat henkeäsalpaavan kauniita. Kesämökki sijaitsi yksityissaarella, ja se oli upea paikka. Rakastuin kaikkeen siellä - minä, joka ei ole koskaan ollut kesämökki-ihminen, päinvastoin. Toki rehellisyyden nimissä on myönnettävä ettei se ollutkaan mökki vaan oikea talo. En saanut tarpeekseni maisemista. Tapasin myös mieheni äidin ja isän uusine kumppaneineen ja mieheni siskon miehineen. Hyvin jännittävää! 

Kävimme Kuopiossa kerran. Näin kuuluisan Kuopion torin ensimmäistä kertaa ja söimme siellä muurinpohjaletut. Sää oli aivan mieletön koko viikon. Suomen kesä on useasti hyvin pahamaineinen ja vitsailemmekin että se on yleensä vähäluminen. Tänä vuonna koko Eurooppaa lämmittänyt lämpöaalto eteni Suomeen asti. 

Mieheni on kalastanut käytänössä koko elämänsä siinä missä minä en. Halusin kuitenkin mennä hänen mukaansa nähdäkseni millaista se on ja se olikin loppujen lopuksi aika hauskaa! Menimme kalastamaan joka yö ja saimme joka kerta jotakin. Tarpeeksi ruokkiaksemme meidät kaikki, vaikkakin se jätti minulle täysin epärealistisen kuvan kalastamisesta: ilmeisesti kotiin tullaan joskus myös tyhjin käsin. Me emme tulleet, emme kertaakaan! 

Saimme yhtenä yönä jopa tämän hirviöhauen! Se painoi lähes 9 kiloa, ja kuulkaa: se oli todella pelottava... hirviö. Se on lähin sana jolla sitä pystyy kuvailemaan. Tiesittekö että hauella on hampaat kuudessa rivissä?! Minä en. Nyt tiedän. Hittolainen. Suomalainen krokotiili...

Vaikka emme olleetkaan Suomen pohjoisimmissa osissa, kuuluisat Suomen kesäyöt olivat täälläkin mielettömät. Tuntui siltä ettei aurinko laskenut lainkaan ja oli valoisaa koko yön. Viimeisenä iltanamme päädyimme itse asiassa pysymään valveilla lähes koko yön - kävimme vuorotellen saunassa ja uimassa (kyllä, minä!!! Menin sekä saunaan että uimaan!) ja vain ihailimme auringonlaskua, yötä, auringonnousua, valoa. Se oli mieletön viikko mielettömässä paikassa. Ja kyllä, ipanat olivat mukana kesämökillä ja niillä oli superhauskaa. Ne uivat järvessä joka päivä ja nauttivat siitä että saivat olla vapaana. En malta odottaa että voimme mennä mökille uudestaan! Viimeinen lomaviikkomme oli huikea, mutta kuten kaikki, myös se tuli päätökseen ja sitten olikin aika suunnata takaisin kotiin, takaisin Müncheniin. 

Weekend in Finland

After Italy it was time to head to Finland for a quick getaway weekend! As I'm not really fond of public transportation and it was likely that I would be going here and there during the days, I rented a car from the airport like I usually do. It's the handiest way of leaving from the airport! My city speedster was this time white small thing.

While I spent time with my friends and family, my friend spend time with hers. Finland was sunny, warm and overall very pleasant. I even met Kessu! He used to live with me, but he didn't really get along with the chihuahuas and in the end he moved out to a friend of mine. She is the best possible mummy for him, and I don't think he could be happier anywhere else!

We roamed in the city for a few hours in our last day. It was actually pretty cool to be a tourist in this city - so many things have changed already in two years! But I do miss Helsinki. It was my home for nearly 20 years.

Italian jälkeen oli aika suunnata Suomeen viikonlopuksi pikavisiitille! Koska en juuri välitä julkisesta liikenteestä ja oli todennäköistä tulisin liikkumaan sinne sun tänne näiden päivien aikana, vuokrasin auton lentokentältä kuten yleensäkin. Se on kaikista kätevin tapa lähteä kentältä! Kaupunkikiiturini oli tällä kertaa valkoinen pikku otus. 

Kun vietin aikaani ystävieni ja perheeni kanssa, ystäväni vietti aikaansa tahollaan. Suomi oli aurinkoinen, lämmin ja kaiken kaikkiaan oikein miellyttävä. Tapasin jopa Kessun! Kessu asui aiemmin minun kanssani, mutta hän ei oikein sopeutunut chihuihin ja loppujen lopuksi muutti eräälle ystävälleni. Hän on paras mahdollinen mami Kessulle, enkä usko että Kessu olisi onnellisempi missään muualla!

Viimeisenä päivänä kuljeskelimme kaupungilla muutaman tunnin ajan. Oli itseasiassa aika kivaa olla turisti Helsingissä - niin moni asia on muuttunut vain kahdessa vuodessa! Mutta kaipaan Helsinkiä. Se oli kotini lähes 20 vuotta.

When in Italy...

...one must have pizza. And buy shoes. After a busy weekend in Germany, we hopped onto my car and headed down to Lake Garda area. We love road trips, we've always done some silly tours and in Lake Garda there is this shoe outlet for A.S.98 that is our favourite brand. The outlet was our main target, and off we went. First we arrived to the hotel we had booked for the first night. Outside it was pink, matching my shirt. There is interesting story to this hotel. When we came back to the hotel in the evening, the light at the bathroom broke and it was just blinking. We called the reception, the guy came to take a look at it, and said "it'll work by tomorrow". We said that well it's not really ideal since we still need to take a shower and we're leaving tomorrow. Then they guy simply left saying he can't do anything to the light as he is alone at the reception and he cannot leave his post for longer time and changing the light would've taken longer. He didn't offer us another room, or a table light or anything. He just left and we were left with a dark bathroom. But hey, light is overrated, right? So we used the flashlights of our mobiles. In the morning there was a knock in the door and another guy came in to look at the light. He said he will have to change it, and he will be right back. An hour and a half later he still hadn't returned and then it was already time to check out. And when I wrote a review to TripAdvisor, the hotel management actually responded and complains that we should've acted differently. Well done, customer service, well done.

And then we headed to our main target. The Olip Outlet. We didn't really know what to expect, but it was pretty damn big. 

It had a lot of stuff, and lot of try-outs meaning there is only one pair available. Mostly these try-outs were (un)luckily in my size, so I didn't have to leave empty handed. Neither did my friend. 

And then it was time to go for pizza since we were in Italy after all. We found a candidate from Google with good ratings, and they did have very, very good pizza. 

Then we headed to Lake Garda, the southside. On the way there we stopped at Olip one more time. To make sure we had found everything we wanted. I really enjoy the sceneries here. My friend wasn't as thrilled :D

Then it was time to move out and keep going. We went to direction of Milan to big outlet mall, FranciaCorta. We spent rest of the day there, and in the evening we drove to our next hotel with a mountain view. 

When we picked the hotel, we assumed that hotel view would mean view. Not that it would be located on top of a mountain. But it sure did have amazing views, it was newly renovated, the owners were super friendly and super nice, and they also cooked dinner. It was authentic homemade italian food and I think my ricotta filled tortellini were the best I have ever had. Amazing place that I definitely would like to visit again! Oh and they had rabbits, goats, horses... Did I already say that I really, really liked the place?!

The building itself was old, I think it was built sometime in the late 1890's.

Kun ollaan Italiassa, pitää syödä pizzaa. Ja ostaa kenkiä. Kiireisen Saksa-viikonlopun jälkeen hyppäsimme autooni ja suuntasimme Garda-järven suuntaan. Rakastamme road trippejä, olemme aina tehneet typeriä reissuja ja Garda-järvellä on myös A.S.98 -merkin kenkien outlet-myymälä ja se on lempimerkkimme. Outlet oli pääkohteemme, ja niin kävimme matkaan. Ensimmäiseksi saavuimme hotellille jonka olimme varanneet ensimmäiselle yölle. Ulkoapäin se oli pinkki, täsmäten paitaani. Hotelliin liittyy mielenkiintoinen tarina. Kun tulimme takaisin hotellille illalla, kylpyhuoneen valo meni rikki ja se vain välkkyi. Soitimme vastaanottoon, sieltä tuli kaveri katsomaan sitä ja sanoi että "se toimii huomiseen mennessä". Sanoimme ettei se oikein ole hyvä homma sillä meidän piti vielä käydä suihkussa ja olisimme myös lähdössä seuraavana päivänä. Kaveri kuitenkin vain lähti sanoen ettei hän voi tehdä valolle mitään sillä hän on yksin vastaanotossa eikä hän voi olla sieltä pois niin pitkää aikaa ja valon vaihtaminen veisi pidempään. Hän ei tarjonnut meille toista huonetta, pöytävaloa tai mitään. Hän vain lähti ja me jäimme keskenämme pimeän kylpyhuoneen kanssa. Mutta hei, valo on muutenkin yliarvostettua, vai mitä? Niinpä käytimme puhelintemme taskulamppua. Aamulla oveen koputettiin ja siellä oli toinen jamppa joka tuli katsomaan lamppua. Hän sanoi että hänen täytyy vaihtaa se, ja että hän tulee aivan kohta takaisin. Puoltatoista tuntia myöhemmin hän ei ollut tullut takaisin ja sitten olikin jo aika kirjautua ulos. Ja kun kirjoitin arvostelun kokemuksestamme TripAdvisoriin, hotellin johto vastasi siihen ja valitti että meidän olisi pitänyt hoitaa tilanne toisin. Hyvin hoidettu, asiakaspalvelu, hyvin hoidettu.

Sitten suuntasimme pääkohteeseemme. Olip Outlet. Emme oikein tienneet mitä odottaa, mutta olihan se nyt melko iso. 

Siellä oli paljon kaikenlaista, ja paljon näytepareja joita on saatavilla vain yksi pari. Suurin osa näistä näytepareista oli (epä)onnekkaasti kokoani, joten minun ei tarvinnut lähteä tyhjin käsin. Kuten ei ystävänikään. 

Ja sitten oli aika mennä pizzalle, sillä olimmehan Italiassa. Löysimme sopivan ehdokkaan Googlesta hyvin arvosteluin, ja pizza olikin erittäin, erittäin hyvää. 

Sitten suuntasimme Garda-järven eteläosaan. Matkalla sinne pysähdyimme vielä kerran Olipissa. Ihan vain varmistaaksemme että löysimme kaiken mitä halusimmekin. Pidän todella paljon maisemista näillä seuduin. Ystäväni ei ollut yhtä otettu :D

Sitten olikin aika taas jatkaa matkaa. Suuntasimme Milanon suuntaan isoon outlettiin, FranciCortaan. Vietimme loppupäivän siellä, ja illalla ajoille seuraavaan hotelliin vuoristonäkymällä. 

Kun valitsimme hotellin, oletimme että vuoristonäkymä tarkoittaisi vuoristonäkymää. Ei että se sijaitsisi vuoren huipulla. Mutta maisemat olivat totisesti upeat, se oli hiljattain remontoitu, omistajat olivat todella ystävällisiä ja mukavia, ja he myös valmistivat illallisen. Se oli aitoa italialaista kotiruokaa ja ricotalla täytetyt tortellinini olivat parhaat ikinä. Mahtava paikka jossa ehdottomasti haluaisin käydä uudelleen! Ja siellä oli myös pupuja, vuohia, hevosia... Sanoinko jo että pidin paikasta todella, todella kovasti?!

Rakennus itsessään oli vanha, luulisin että se oli rakennettu myöhään 1890-luvulla.
