Summer holiday

Any of these places, happenings and times could've been their own post, but I'll just cramp them all into one and the same. I'm enjoying my well deserved summer holiday now! That has made it possible to go out venturing with our bikes almost every evening as I'm home when my man arrives from work. First we went to Kirchsee. It was a nature preserve area so we had to pay 2 euros to get in.

Then on another evening we went to Schliersee. Amazingly beautiful and not far from Munich.

Yesterday evening we went to Tegernsee for dinner. Just as beautiful and good food! 

I've also been busy with my arts and crafts project. I wanted to do a new handbag for me. I stumbled across in Pinterest pictures of crazy quilting -technique and Japanese knot bag. That gave me the idea of putting together all my favorite pieces of fabrics and make a purse. As more is more, and I love colors, this is the end result! I'm very happy about it.

I also did myself new nails. Summer holiday nails with colors and diamonds. More is more!

Mikä tahansa näistä paikoista, tapahtumista ja tekemisistä olisi voinut olla oma postauksensa, mutta tungen kaikki nyt samaan. Juuri nyt minä nautin kesälomastani! Se on mahdollistanut sen että olemme voineet käydä joka ilta ajelulla pyörillämme sillä olen kotona kun mieheni saapuu töistä. Ensimmäiseksi kävimme Kirchseellä. Se oli luonnonsuojelualue joten meidän piti maksaa 2 euroa päästäksemme sisään. 

Sitten toisena iltana kävimme Schlierseellä. Mielettömän kaunis paikka eikä kovinkaan kaukana Münchenistä. 

Eilen illalla kävimme Tegernseellä illallisella. Aivan yhtä kaunista ja hyvää ruokaa! 

Olen ollut myös kiireinen askarteluprojektini kanssa. Halusin tehdä itselleni uuden käsilaukun. Törmäsin Pinterestissä kuviin crazy quilting -tekniikasta ja japanilaisesta solmulaukusta. Sain siitä idean yhdistää kaikki lempikankaani yhteen ja tehdä käsilaukun. Koska enemmän on enemmän, ja rakastan värejä, tässä on lopputulos! Olen oikein tyytyväinen siihen.

Tein itselleni myös uudet kynnet. Kesälomakynnet väreillä ja timanteilla. Enemmän on enemmän!

Bikes 'n' stuff

As life went on, we've been busy little bees and been exploring not just the city but also surrounding areas. The first big news are that since my man passed also his driving exam, he also bought a bike of his own. As it is us who we are talking about, he knew what he liked, he had been searching online quite some time and when he found this beast, it was an easy decision. We have one more Italian beauty in our family now: Ducati XDiavel. It's noisy, it's big and it's very handsome. I think he is a perfect fit.

We have been to Tollwood twice: once to get a bite to eat and just wondering the festivities as it was first time for my man to go there. For the second time we went to see Billy f*cking Idol! Some of you might remember how my man gave me the tickets to Billy Idol as a Xmas present over half a year ago. The day came and together we went. And my man wanted to look like an axe murderer. And how was Billy? Well. When he was on fire, he was on fire and the German audience sure can cheer and make the roof to explode. When he wasn't on fire, it was surprisingly boring. However, given that he is already past 60, he did deliver a good show and I'm glad I got to see him play with my man.

We've been doing small trips to surrounding areas. We went to Stanberger See as my man hasn't been there at all. It was just as beautiful as before. 

Then we ventured out with our bikes for the first time! It was fun, and it's great that we now have a joint hobby. We went to Walchensee. I just can't get enough of the sceneries here.

Koska elämä jatkui, olemme olleet ahkeria ja olemme tutustuneet niin kaupunkiin kuin ympäröiviin alueisiinkin. Ensimmäiset isot uutiset ovat että koska mieheni läpäisi myös ajokokeensa, hän myöskin osti oman pyörän. Koska puhumme meistä, hän tiesi mistä hän pitää, hän on etsinyt netistä jo jonkin aikaa ja kun hän löysi tämän pedon, päätös oli helppo. Meillä on yksi italialainen kaunotar lisää perheessämme: Ducati XDiavel. Se on äänekäs, se on iso ja se on erittäin komea. Mielestäni täydellinen pari. 

Olemme olleet Tollwoodissa kahdesti: kerran syömässä ja vain ihmettelemässä aluetta sillä se oli ensimmäinen kerta miehelleni siellä. Toisen kerran menimme sinne katsomaan Billy v*tun Idolia! Jotkut teistä ehkä muistavatkin miten mieheni antoi minulle joululahjaksi liput Billy Idolin konserttiin yli puoli vuotta sitten. Keikkapäivä koitti ja menimme yhdessä. Ja mieheni halusi näyttää kirvesmurhaajalta. Entä millainen oli Billy? No. Kun hän oli liekeissä, hän oli liekeissä ja saksalainen yleisö totisesti osaa kannustaa ja saada katon räjähtämään. Kun hän ei ollut liekeissä, keikka oli yllättävän tylsä. Kuitenkin kun otetaan huomioon että hän on jo yli 60, hän veti hyvän shown ja olen iloinen että näin hänet soittamassa mieheni kanssa. 

Olemme tehneet pieniä retkiä ympäröiville alueille. Menimme Stanberger Seelle sillä mieheni ei ole ollut siellä lainkaan. Siellä oli yhtä kaunista kuin ennenkin. 

Sitten menimme ensimmäiselle yhteiselle moporetkellemme! Se oli hauskaa, ja on mahtavaa että meillä on nyt yhteinen harrastus. Menimme Walchenseelle. En vain saa tarpeekseni maisemista täällä.

Life after Santorini

As I mentioned, there indeed has been life after Santorini. And quite a fair bit of that! First of all, it was again time for me to do my new nails. I seem to go back to baby boomer at least once a year, sometimes even more often. Baby boomer it was this time too with matte finish and some diamonds. I absolutely love these nails!

As it was time to go to a hairdresser too, we decided it's time for summer hair. Let me present the unicorn!

I've been meaning to buy a new helmet for ages now, and finally we had a chance to get that done. We went to our favorite motorbike gear shop Dainese with the idea of just getting a new helmet for me. We did get that. But we got something else too... New back protection piece for me, and a lighter jacket for my man. We're getting expensive on our purses. 

Overall it's been normal life. Back to work, going out eating, walking the puppies. It's full summer here, has been for quite some time now and the puppies love it. Hirmu surprised me in one of our long walks and showed me that she is a water beast too!

And of course a little bit of movies too. The new sequel to Jurassic World saga came out, and of course I wanted to see it so off we went. It was as a movie pretty embarrassing but the dinos were as amazing as I expected!

Kuten mainitsin, Santorinin jälkeen on ollut elämää. Ja aika paljonkin! Ihan ensimmäiseksi oli aika tehdä jälleen uudet kynnet. Näytän palaavan baby boomeriin vähintään kerran vuodessa, joskus useimminkin. Niin myös tällä kertaa tuli baby boomerit matta viimeistelyllä ja joillakin timanteilla. Rakastan näitä kynsiä!

Koska oli myös aika mennä kampaajalle, päätimme että on aika kesähiuksille. Sallikaa minun esitellä yksisarvinen!

Minun on ollut tarkoitus ostaa uusi kypärä jo aikoja sitten, ja nyt vihdoinkin saimme siihen tilaisuuden. Menimme lempimopotarvikekauppaamme Daineselle sillä ajatuksella että haemme vain uuden kypärän. Saimme sain. Mutta saimme jotain muutakin... Minulle uusi selkäsuoja, ja kevyempi takki miehelleni. Käymme kalliiksi lompakoillemme. 

Kaiken kaikkiaan elämä on ollut normaalia. Takaisin töihin, ulos syömään, ipanoiden ulkoilutusta. Täällä on täysi kesä, on ollut jo jonkin aikaa ja ipanat rakastavat sitä. Hirmu yllätti minut yhdellä pitkistä lenkeistämme ja näytti että hän on myös vesipeto!

Ja tietenkin myös vähäsen elokuvia. Uusi jatko-osa Jurassic Worldiin tuli ulos, ja tietenkin halusin nähdä sen. Elokuvana se oli melko nolostuttava, mutta dinot olivat juuri niin upeita kuin odotinkin!

German test

Before getting into life after Santorini -posts (yes, life did go on even though we left the beautiful Santorini behind), there must be one another post entirely. As most of you know, I've been studying German with a private teacher since last August. Most of the time I've felt like I'm retarded, and despite the efforts of the teacher, I fail to grasp the idea of dative and accusative. When we were getting more and more near finishing the second book of A1 level, my teacher started pressing more and more me taking a test to prove that the lessons with her hasn't been in vain.

My first reaction was "ok, but you do know I'm going to fail". So sure I was that dative and accusative would be my downfalls that I didn't even bother thinking that there could be a possibility for passing. Then my teacher laughed at me and said the test is not about dative and accusative, but it's to show them you can ask simple questions and understand simple directions. So, at that point I said ok, fine, lets get practicing. And oh boy, practice we did. I bought a test book that is dedicated only on giving example tests. I did all the example tests online I could find. When in lessons, we practiced speaking as I realized to my horror there is also a speaking exercise where one has to actually speak in a team in front of the instructors.

And after the first practice test I realized I actually can pass this exam. And after few other tests I realized I can actually achieve high scores. And then the game was on. I'm very ambitious, as you might've guessed. I wouldn't be here where I am otherwise. I started chasing better and better results, and asked my teacher to give me more tests to practice on. When my man had his motorbike license's theory exam and he passed with 100%, I knew that was nothing less I could be satisfied with.

On the day of the exam I was extremely nervous and I was sure I wouldn't make the high scores I was  hunting. When the exam finally started, I was just relieved. It was like all the practice exams I had made: in parts ridiculously easy, in parts not so easy by no means. Some words I forgot what they meant so I was sure I wouldn't score high scores. I knew that I would pass, but I wasn't sure with how high scores.

But, since I am little miss Over-achiever, I came out with 100 points out of 100, with a wide grin on my face. I am proud of myself. I did this while working full time, while going through the hardest times of my life. I did this, and now it's time to set focus on the next level. I will still feel retarded for sure, but this gave me the motivation and belief that maybe with a lot of work I actually can learn this damn language.

Ennen kuin siirryn elämää Santorinin jälkeen -postauksiin (kyllä, elämä on jatkunut vaikka jätimmekin kauniin Santorinin taaksemme), minun täytyy kirjoittaa jostain täysin muusta. Kuten suurin osa teistä tietää, olen opiskellut saksaa yksityisopettajan johdolla viime elokuusta saakka. Suurimman osan ajasta olen tuntenut itseni jälkeenjääneeksi, ja huolimatta opettajan yrityksistä, en ymmärrä datiivia tai akkusatiivia. Kun lähestyimme A1 tason kakkoskirjan loppua, opettajani alkoi painostamaan minua siitä että koe olisi hyvä suorittaa jotta voisimme todistaa etteivät tunnit ole olleet turhia.

Ensimmäinen reaktioni oli "ok, mutta tiedäthän että reputan". Niin varma olin siitä että datiivi ja akkusatiivi olisivat tuhoni etten edes viitsinyt miettiä vaihtoehtoa että voisin läpäistä. Sitten opettajani nauroi minulle ja sanoi ettei testi ole datiivista ja akkusatiivista, vaan se on siitä että näytät osaavasi kysyä yksinkertaisia kysymyksiä ja ymmärtäväsi yksinkertaisia ohjeita. No, siinä vaiheessa totesin että aloitetaan harjoittelemaan. Ja voi pojat miten me harjoittelimmekaan. Ostin harjoituskirjan joka on tehty vain testiä varten harjoitteluun. Tein kaikki esimerkkitestit jotka löysin netistä. Kun olin tunneilla, harjoittelimme puhumista sillä tajusin kauhukseni että kokeessa täytyy myös puhua valvojien edessä.

Ja ensimmäisen harjoitustestin jälkeen tajusin että saatan oikeasti läpäistä kokeen. Ja muutaman lisäharjoitustestin jälkeen tajusin että saatan oikeasti saada korkeat pisteet. Ja silloin päätin suorittaa. Olen hyvin kunnianhimoinen kuten olette ehkä arvanneet. En olisi tässä missä olen jos en olisi kunnianhimoinen. Aloitin jahtaamaan parempia ja parempia tuloksia, ja pyysin opettajaani antamaan lisää harjoituksia. Kun mieheni läpäisi moottoripyöräkorttinsa teoriakokeen 100%, tiesin etten olisi itse yhtään vähempään tyytyväinen.

Koepäivänä olin todella hermostunut ja olin varma etten saavuttaisi korkeita pisteitä joita tavoittelin. Kun koe vihdoin alkoi, olin vain helpottunut. Se oli kuten kaikki ne harjoitustestin joita olin tehnyt: osin naurettavan helppo, osin kaikkea muuta paitsi helppo. Osan sanoista olin unohtanut joten olin varma etten saisi korkeita pisteitä. Tiesin että pääsisin läpi, mutta en ollut varma millaisilla pisteillä.

Mutta, koska olen pieni neiti Ylisuorittaja, sain 100 pistettä 100:sta leveän virnistyksen kera. Olen itsestäni ylpeä. Tein tämän kun työskentelen täysipäiväisesti, samalla kun kävin läpi elämäni vaikeimpia aikoja. Tein tämän, ja nyt on aika asettaa fokus seuraavaan tasoon. Tulen takuulla tuntemaan itseni jälkeenjääneeksi, mutta tämä antoi minulle motivaatiota ja uskoa että ehkäpä kovalla työllä voin oikeasti oppia tämän hiton kielen.
