Movie galore

During the past weekends we have been going to the movies. Despite all the packing and all the moving, there has been also some quality time for just the two of us. As I love movies, and as I'm working with them for living, I have taken the habit here of going to see each and every movie I want. Now I'm dragging my man with me, and I'm pretty sure he gets to see more movies than he actually ever thought he would :D

We started with the new Tomb Raider. It was... Well. How to put it? It was a big budget movie with very, very crappy script. It always astonishes me that movies with such poor scripts make it to production. I mean, there is some producer or executive or some big shot that actually says "yes, lets move forward with this" even though it's just pure crap. Lets not talk about the acting abilities of the lead actress or all the twists with no logic...

Then it was time for Pacific Rim - Uprising. I loved the first Pacific Rim. Come one, big ass robots fighting against big ass monsters with Idris Elba - what else could you possibly need?! The second one was... Well. Big ass robots and big ass monsters and even bigger ass monster. Again logic was missing, but then again - big ass robots do almost automatically rule out logic. 

 Finally we saw Ready Player One. In truth I didn't really know much of this movie, and I was for a while not even wanting to go and see it, but then I read a Facebook post from my friend and decided that ok, lets do this. Ready Player One was... Not as bad as I feared by no means. Visually absolutely stunning and I still don't know how they actually managed to pull off the car race sequence. Absolutely breathtaking. And the plot itself? Pretty simple, made for teen agers so we were definitely not the right target group. However, just for the visuals I'm glad I got to see it from big screen.

What I'm waiting for next in the movies? Rampage from Dwayne Johnson. It's gonna be big, and I'm pretty sure it's gonna be awesome because it's Dwayne :D And there is also the new Jurassic Park looming behind the corner already... Some good stuff to wait for!

Viimeisten viikonloppujen aikana olemme käyneet elokuvissa. Huolimatta kaikesta pakkauksesta ja kaikesta muutosta, olemme myös nauttineet laatuajasta kahdestaan. Koska rakastan elokuvia ja koska teen niitä työkseni, olen ottanut täällä ollessani tavakseni käydä katsomassa jokaikisen elokuvan jonka haluan. Nyt raahaan mieheni mukanani, ja olen melko varma että hän joutuu katsomaan useampia elokuvia kuin hän koskaan kuvitteli... :D

Aloitimme uudesta Tomb Raiderista. Se oli... No. Kuinka sanoisin? Se oli ison budjetin elokuva jolla oli todella, todella huono käsikirjoitus. Se jaksaa aina hämmästyttää miten huonoilla käsikirjoituksilla elokuvat oikeasti lähtevät tuotantoon. Joku tuottaja tai ylemmän tahon päättäjä tai iso kiho oikeasti sanoo että "jes, tällä mennään eteenpäin" vaikka se on pelkkää roskaa. Eikä puhuta päänäyttelijän kyvyistä näytellä tai kaikesta logiikan puutteesta...

Sitten oli aika Pacific Rim - Uprisingin. Rakastin ensimmäistä Pacific Rimiä. Hiton isoja robotteja jotka taistelivat hiton isoja monstereita vastaan kera Idris Elban - mitä muuta sitä voisi tarvita?! Jatko-osa oli... No. Hiton isoja robotteja ja hiton isoja monstereita ja yksi vieläkin isompi monsteri. Logiikka loisti jälleen poissaolollaan, mutta toistaalta - hiton isot robotit lähes automaattisesti rajaavat logiikan pois.

Lopuksi näimme Ready Player Onen. En tiennyt juuri mitään tästä elokuvasta ja en ollut edes varma haluanko nähdä sen, mutta sitten luin ystäväni Facebook -päivityksen ja päätin että ok, käydään katsomassa. Ready Player One oli... Ei lähimainkaan niin huono kuin pelkäsin. Visuaalisesti upea enkä vieläkään tiedä miten ne oikeasti onnistuivat toteuttamaan autokisakohtauksen. Henkeäsalpaavaa. Ja juoni itsessään? Melko yksinkertainen, tehty teineille joten me emme todellakaan olleet oikeaa kohderyhmää. Olen kuitenkin iloinen puhtaasti visuaalisista syistä että näin tämän elokuvan isolta kankaalta.

Mitä odotan seuraavaksi elokuvilta? Dwayne Johnsonin Rampagea. Se on iso elokuva ja olen varma että se on myös mahtava koska siinä on Dwayne :D Ja myös uusi Jurassic Park on nurkan takana odottamassa... Hyvää kamaa tulossa!
