City of Dandong

After visiting the city centre of Dalian, on Sunday we went to Dandong with our guide. She came to pick us up from the hotel, and we took a taxi to the train station. Train tickets she had booked for us already earlier to make sure we will have seats. At the train station we needed to show our passports when entering the station and also when leaving the station. It was very weird.

The high speed train took us to Dandong in two hours. It passed through fields, and it was shocking to see the Chinese farmers still working manually in their fields. We barely saw any tractors, but farmers doing everything by hand. It was like in Finland 100 years ago. Simply shocking. When in Dandong, we went to the Great Wall of China! We had been looking forward for this. The Great Wall was impressive, but not as impressive as we thought. 

We had to climb a lot of stairs to make it to the top. And I mean A LOT of stairs. 

But it was definitely worth it. 

At the Great Wall we were a tourist attraction as well. There was this bunch of Chinese tourists who wanted to have a picture with us. At first we thought they wanted us to take their picture but no! Apparently we were something they had not seen before. Now I know how the circus monkey feels. 

We did see also the border of North-Korea, but unfortunately our guide did not take us to the bridge where you could see it even better. After the Great Wall it was time to have some lunch. Our guide took us to this all you can eat -buffet, and it was with really great quality. I haven't ever boiled crabs and I never will because I can't stand the idea of killing them in front of my eyes. I am fully aware that all meat I eat have been alive at some point, but in this I'm definitely nimby. So, you can imagine my reaction when our guide brought these live crabs to our table and the crab was there staring at me and BLINKING. I just couldn't, it was just wrong and in the end our guide took the crabs away because I just couldn't. I apologized several times, I also know that I probably offended her greatly, but I just couldn't. 

Final target was this big city park we went to. It was well maintained and very beautiful. 

At the same time it was very weird place because in the middle of the park we found this rotten building that has been there ages without no maintenance whatsoever. 

I don't know if they will clean up some of the places during high season, but right now also the little pond was incredibly dirty. It was also horrible to see this "zoo" they had in this park. It was no zoo. It was a prison with tiny jails for animals that would need at least ten times more space. There was one wolf with a cub and the wolf was suffering of heavy behavior problems... My heart just broke. If I could've, I would've called animal rescue or police or someone, but I guess in China the animal rights are not top priority. I have said this before, and I say it again: man is evil. In my belief it is always, ALWAYS, the responsibility of the stronger and wiser to take care of the weaker. I also saw tiny kittens being sold in the street from these tiny cages... It's just so heartbreaking, and I'm fully aware that I only saw the tip of the iceberg, and I know nothing of the horrors of other countries or how children are being treated in the poorest of countries.

Dalianissa vierailun jälkeen menimme sunnuntaina kaupunkiin nimeltä Dandong oppaamme kanssa. Hän tuli hakemaan meidät hotellilta, ja menimme taksilla juna-asemalle. Junaliput hän oli ostanut jo aiemmin että saimme varmasti istuinpaikat. Juna-asemalla meidän piti näyttää passeja sekä saapuessa asemalle että poistuessa sieltä. Se oli hyvin omituista. 

Supernopea juna vei meidät Dandongiin kahdessa tunnissa. Se kulki peltojen läpi, ja oli shokeeraavaa nähdä kiinalaiset maanviljelijät edelleen tekevän kaiken käsin. Näimme hädintuskin lainkaan traktoreita, mutta maanviljelijät tekivät kaiken käsin. Se oli kuin Suomi 100 vuotta sitten. Yksinkertaisesti shokeeraavaa. Kun saavuimme Dandongiin, menimme Kiinan muurille! Olimme odottaneet tätä kovasti. Kiinan muuri oli vaikuttava, muttei ihan niin vaikuttava kuin luulimme. 

Meidän piti kiivetä runsain mitoin portaita jotta pääsimme huipulle. Ja tarkoitan siis RUNSAIN MITOIN portaita. 

Mutta se oli ehdottomasti sen arvoista. 

Kiinan muurilla olimme itsekin turistinähtävyys. Siellä oli kasa kiinalaisia turisteja jotka halusivat ottaa kuvan meidän kanssamme. Aluksi luulimme että halusivat meidän ottavan heistä kuvia, mutta ei! Ilmeisesti olimme jotain mitä eivät olleet aiemmin nähneet. Nyt tiedän miltä sirkusapinasta tuntuu.  

Näimme myös Pohjois-Korean rajan, mutta valitettavasti oppaamme ei vienyt meitä sillalle josta sen olisi nähnyt vielä paremmin. Kiinan muurin jälkeen oli aika syödä lounasta. Oppaamme vei meidät syö niin paljon kuin jaksat -buffettiin, ja ruoka oli todella korkealuokkaista. En ole koskaan keittänyt rapuja enkä koskaan tule sitä tekemäänkään sillä en voi sietää ajatusta siitä että tapan ne silmieni edessä. Olen täysin tietoinen siitä että kaikki liha jota syön on ollut elossa jossain vaiheessa, mutta tämän suhteen olen täysi nimby. Voit siis kuvitella reaktioni kun oppaamme toi pöytään eläviä rapuja ja rapu vain tuijotti minua ja RÄPYTTELI. En vain pystynyt, se vain oli väärin ja loppujen lopuksi oppaamme vei ravut pois koska en vain pystynyt. Pyysin anteeksi oppaaltamme useita kertoja, ja tiedän että luultavasti loukkasin häntä suuresti, mutta en vain pystynyt. 

Viimeiseksi menimme suuren kaupunkipuistoon. Se oli huolellisesti ylläpidetty ja hyvin kaunis. 

Samaan aikaan se oli todella omituinen paikka sillä puiston keskellä oli tämä lahoava rakennus jota ei ollut varmasti koskaan ylläpidetty millään tavalla.

En tiedä siivotaanko puistossa turistikauden alkaessa paikkoja, mutta juuri nyt myös pieni lampi oli todella likainen. Oli myös järkyttävää nähdä puiston "eläintarha". Se ei ollut eläintarha. Se oli vankila pienine häkkeineen eläimille jotka tarvitsisivat vähintään kymmenkertaiset tilat. Siellä oli myös susi pennun kanssa ja susi kärsi pahoista käytöshäiriöistä... Sydämeni särkyi. Jos olisin voinut, olisin soittanut eläinsuojeluun tai poliisille tai johonkin, mutta Kiinassa ilmeisesti ei eläinten oikeudet ole kovin korkealla tärkeysjärjestyksessä. Olen sanonut tämän ennenkin, ja sanon uudestaan: ihminen on paha. Mielestäni se on aina, AINA, vanhemman ja viisaamman velvollisuus huolehtia heikommasta. Näin myös pieniä kissanpentuja myytävän kadulla pienissä häkeissä... Se oli niin sydäntäsärkevää, ja olen täysin tietoinen siitä että näin vain jäävuoren huipun, enkä tiedä mitään muiden maiden kauhuista tai kuinka lapsia kohdellaan köyhimmissä maissa.

Dalian City Centre

I have returned from China! I came back on Thursday evening, but have been busy and jet lagged... But here I am, finally! First is an update of the things we did while spending one weekend in China. On Saturday we went for a long breakfast in this Austrian place. It was nice, warm and sunny day.

In the afternoon our guide came to pick us up and took us to the city centre of Dalian. First we went to the Bay Area. Sea is always nice, and living in Munich I do miss sea. In Helsinki sea is always there, whenever you want to see it, it is right there. 

Then it was time to hit the city centre. Lots of tall buildings, but not as many people as we expected. 

And in the evening our great guide took us to the other side of the Bay Area to see the city lights. Very nice.

Olen palannut Kiinasta! Tulin takaisin torstai-iltana, mutta olen ollut kiireinen ja kärsinyt jet lagista... Mutta täällä olen, vihdoinkin! Ensimmäisenä on päivitys siitä mitä teimme viettäessämme viikonloppua Kiinassa. Lauantaina nautimme pitkästä aamiaisesta itävaltalaisessa paikassa. Päivä oli mukava, lämmin ja aurinkoinen. 

Iltapäivällä oppaamme tuli hakemaan meidät ja vei meidät Dalianin keskustaan. Ensimmäisenä menimme ranta-alueelle. Meri on aina ihana, ja Münchenissä kaipaan merta. Helsingissä meri on aina lähellä, halusitpa nähdä sen koska tahansa. 

Sitten oli aika mennä keskustaan. Paljon korkeita rakennuksia, mutta ei niin paljon ihmisiä kuin odotimme. 

Illalla loistava oppaamme vei meidät toiselle puolelle ranta-aluetta jotta näimme kaupungin valot. Oikein kaunista. 

China

Ladies and gentlemen, I am in China. Flights went ok, last one was delayed almost for four hours, and of course they really didn't bother notifying anyone of it. In the end they shipped us to the airplane, and made us sit there for two hours without taking off. And I needed to pee so badly :D

The hotel is really classy and they even gave us a complimentary upgrade to better rooms, almost to a suite. We are staying in the 18th floor, and this hotel has 19 floors, so not bad. 

They even have fish! 

So far everything has been a positive surprise. The food is crazy good everywhere. I mean seriously, I don't know if I have eaten this good this many times in a row ever in my life. People here don't speak english, but they are super friendly. They help you in any way they can, whether they speak english or not. You do need to have a translator with you everywhere. Otherwise it's just almost impossible to get anything done. So far we haven't really had time to do any sightseeing, but I did take a few pictures yesterday. These are from where the studio is located, in a campus area. 

We went for a dinner yesterday and had few drinks afterwards.

Today we are going first to a breakfast restaurant and then to the city centre. On Sunday we are going to see North-Korean border and the beginning of the Great Wall. I try to write updates!

Hyvä herrasväki, minä olen Kiinassa. Lennot menivät ihan ok, viimeinen oli myöhässä lähes neljä tuntia eikä siitä tietenkään vaivauduttu juuri ilmoittelemaan. Loppujen lopuksi meidät lastattiin koneeseen ja istuimme siinä kaksi tuntia ilman liikkeellelähtöä. Ja minulla oli hirveä pissahätä :D 

Hotelli on todella laadukas ja meidät jopa upgreidattiin hotellin taholta parempiin huoneisiin, lähes sviittiin. Yövymme 18. kerroksessa, ja hotellissa on 19 kerrosta, joten ei paha. 

Hotellissa on jopa kaloja!

Tähän mennessä kaikki on ollut positiivista yllätystä. Ruoka on tajuttoman hyvää joka puolella. Ihan oikeasti, en tiedä olenko ikinä syönyt näin hyvin näin monta kertaa peräkkäin. Ihmiset täällä eivät puhu englantia, mutta he ovat todella ystävällisiä. He auttavat miten ikinä voivat, puhuivat englantia tai eivät. Tulkki tarvitaan joka paikassa. Muuten on lähes mahdotonta saada mitään tehdyksi. Meillä ei ole tähän mennessä vielä ollut mahdollisuutta nähtävyyksille, mutta otin eilen muutamia kuvia. Nämä ovat kampusalueelta jossa studio sijaitsee. 

Menimme eilen illalla illalliselle ja sen jälkeen drinksuille. 

Tänään menemme ensin aamupalalle aamiaisravintolaan ja sitten keskustaan. Sunnuntaina menemme katsomaan Pohjois-Korean rajaa ja Kiinan muurin alkua. Yritän kirjoittaa päivityksiä!

Nails, movies and traveling

I have postponed doing new nails as I've been way too busy sitting 4 to 6 hours working with them, but now I had the time for some spring nails. I'm very fond of this color. Shape and length is very much to my liking as well.

I also went to the movies yesterday. I realized that there are two movies I want to see, and neither of them will be on anymore after I get back from my travels. First it was time for my absolute favorites: Fast and Furious 8. It was endlessly entertainment, ridiculously hilarious and made no sense whatsoever. I LOVED it :D

I also wanted to see the new version of Ghost in the Shell. I didn't enjoy that as much, for me it was a bit too slow... But stunning visuals, as to be expected. 

I also got a sweet little picture from Finland. My puppies are doing great and enjoying their holiday. Only few more weeks and I can finally have my tiny family together again <3 

Today I am traveling to China for work. I will be gone for almost two weeks. It was a hassle getting the visas (took me a month and a half to get everything sorted), and new twists in the plot until the very last minutes (my animation director having problems with his sinus and doctor threatening no flying), but finally in the end everything worked out and we are good to go. The internet is very restricted in China, and I don't know if I will have access to my blog or Facebook or Google during my visit. If I'm not connected, there will be lots of blog posts coming up after my return!

Olen lykännyt uusien kynsien tekoa koska olen ollut liian kiireinen istuakseni neljästä kuuteen tuntiin työskennellen niiden kanssa, mutta nyt minulla oli aikaa tehdä kevätkynnet. Olen erittäin tykästynyt tähän väriin. Muoto ja pituus ovat myös erittäin onnistuneet. 

Kävin myös elokuvissa eilen. Tajusin että on kaksi elokuvaa jotka haluan nähdä, eikä niistä kumpikaan ole enää ohjelmistossa kunnes olen palannut reissuiltani. Ensimmäiseksi vuorossa oli ehdoton suosikkini: Fast and Furious 8. Se oli loputtoman viihdyttävä, naurettavan hilpeä eikä siinä ollut mitään järkeä. RAKASTIN sitä :D 

Halusin nähdä myös uuden version Ghost in the Shellistä. En pitänyt siitä yhtä paljon, minulle se oli liian hidas... Mutta visuaalisesti näyttävä, kuten odottaa sopii. 

Sain myös ihanan kuvan Suomesta. Ipanat voivat hyvin ja nauttivat lomastaan. Enää muutama viikko ja saan vihdoin pienen perheeni jälleen kasaan <3

Tänään matkustan Kiinaan työmatkalle. Olen pois lähes kaksi viikkoa. Viisumin saaminen oli yhtä säätöä (siihen meni puolitoista kuukautta), ja uusia juonenkäänteitä aina viime minuuteille saakka (animaatio-ohjaajallani oli ongelmia nenäonteloiden kanssa ja lääkäri uhkasi lentokiellolla), mutta loppujen lopuksi kaikki järjestyi ja me olemme valmiita matkaan. Pääsy internettiin on hyvin rajoitettua Kiinassa, enkä tiedä pääsenkö sen enempää blogiini, Facebookkiin kuin Googleenkaan reissuni aikana. Jos en pääse, paluuni jälkeen on tiedossa runsain mitoin päivityksiä!

Strawberries, flowers and Isar

I know I have been ranting about spring already God knows how many times, but I don't seem to get tired of the subject :D Even though it has been little colder here for the past few days, the sceneries have still been very nice. There are lots of nice walkways along the river Isar.

More and more flowers. 

The first strawberries of the season, and they are locally produced here in Bavaria! I love strawberries. I can't get enough of them <3

Tiedän että olen keuhkonnut keväästä jo ties kuinka monta kertaa, mutta en näytä väsyvän aiheeseen :D Vaikka täällä onkin ollut vähän viileämpää viime päivinä, maisemat ovat silti olleet erittäin kauniita. Isar-joen varrella on paljon kivoja kävelyreittejä. 

Enemmän ja enemmän kukkia. 

Kauden ensimmäiset mansikat, ja ne ovat paikallisia täältä Bavariasta! Rakastan mansikoita. En voi saada niistä kyllikseni <3
