Easter

Our idea for the Easter holiday was just to stay at home, relax, enjoy the patio, do a little bit of gardening and some motorcycling. It's been a busy spring, and I was looking forward to relaxing a bit before next week and my upcoming business trip to Montreal.

Well. You've heard about the saying that the road to hell is paved with good intentions?

If our weekends have been nothing but slavecamps, they were nothing compared to Easter. We assembled rest of the garden furniture on Good Friday. In the evening we did relax a little bit - we went to a friend's house that turned out to be a house warming party. All good and fun and nice. On Saturday we went to shopping as that was the only day in the Easter that the shops were open. So, we got our groceries done and then it was time to continue with the garden and patio. In the evening I did also a summer flower pickup run to the garden stores.

On Sunday we worked more with the garden and planted all the flowers. We now even have palm trees! It took the whole day to get the patio looking nice, but finally it is starting to come together. We have been doing barbecue every day, most days twice and enjoyed the possibility of eating outside for the first times after winter! But I have to admit that I'm more than pleased with our patio. It's not just a patio, it's a summer oasis and I can't wait to enjoy the summer!

The weather has been amazing throughout the Easter. Sun has been shining every day from blue skies and the temperature has been around 22 and more during the days. For a Finn this is a full blown summer! 

As beautiful as the trees and bushes are and everything is blossoming, it does have its side effects. Both of us, me and my man, are allergic to the pollen, but I'm a lucky one in a sense that allergic medication keeps the symptoms at bay and I can function normally. My man however has been  suffering from the allergy a lot more, and thus we have stayed home and not gone to motorcycling. I'm sure we will get plenty of chance for that within the next months to come. Despite the allergies I have enjoyed all the beauty of the nature: the apple trees, plum trees and we even have a lilac in our yard! 

Next update will come hopefully in two weeks. Upcoming week will be a busy one, and on Sunday I'll pack my bags and head to Montreal. I should return from there in a few days and be back home for the weekend. Hopefully I'll have then enough time to write an update!

Meillä oli ajatuksena viettää pääsiäisloma kotona rentoutuen, pihasta nauttien, tehden hieman puutarhahommia ja moottoripyöräillen. Kevät on ollut kiireinen, ja odotin kovasti rentoutumista ennen ensi viikkoa ja edessä olevaa työmatkaa Montrealiin.

No. Olette kuulleet sanonnan että tie helvettiin on päällystetty hyvillä aikeilla?

Jos meidän viikonloput ovat olleet työleirejä, ne eivät ole mitään verrattuna pääsiäiseen. Pitkänäperjantaina kasasimme loput puutarhakalusteet. Illalla sentään rentouduimme hieman - kävimme ystävämme luona vierailulla josta kasvoikin tupaantuliaiset. Kaikki mukavaa, kivaa ja siistiä. Lauantaina kävimme kaupoilla sillä se oli pääsiäisen ainoa päivä jolloin kaupat olivat auki. Niinpä hoidimme ruokaostokset ja sitten olikin aika jatkaa puutarhan ja pation kanssa. Illalla kävin vielä hakemassa kesäkukkia puutarhakaupoista.

Sunnuntaina työskentelimme lisää pihalla ja istutin kaikki kukkaset. Meillä on nyt jopa palmuja! Siihen meni koko päivä jotta terassimme näyttää kivalta, mutta vihdoin se alkoi muotoutumaan. Olemme grillanneet joka päivä, monena päivänä kahdesti ja nauttineet mahdollisuudesta syödä ulkona ensimmäisiä kertoja talven jälkeen! Mutta minun on myönnettävä että olen todella tyytyväinen patioomme. Se ei ole pelkkä patio, vaan se on kesäkeidas enkä malta odottaa kesää!

Säät on olleet erinomaiset koko pääsiäisen ajan. Aurinko on paistanut joka päivä siniseltä taivaalta ja lämpötila on ollut 22 asteen kieppeillä ja korkeammallakin päivisin. Suomalaisella tämä on täysimittainen kesä!

Niin kauniita kuin puut ja pensaat ovatkin ja kaikki on kukassa, sillä on seurauksensa. Molemmat, minä ja mieheni, olemme allergisia siitepölylle, mutta olen siinä mielessä onnekas että allergialääkkeet tehoavat ja pitävät oireet kurissa ja pystyn toimimaan normaalisti. Mieheni sen  sijaan on kärsinyt allergioista paljon enemmän, ja niinpä olemme olleet kotona emmekä käyneet moottoripyöräilemässä. Olen varma että saamme siihen runsaasti tilaisuuksia seuraavien kuukausien aikana. Allergioista huolimatta olen nauttinut kaikista luonnon kauneuksista: omenapuista, luumupuista ja onpa meillä syreenikin omalla pihalla!

Seuraava päivitys tulee toivottavasti kahden viikon kuluttua. Tuleva viikko on kiireinen, ja sunnuntaina pakkaan laukkuni ja lähden Montrealiin. Minun pitäisi palata sieltä muutaman päivän kuluttua ja olla kotona viikonlopuksi. Toivottavasti minulla on silloin tarpeeksi aikaa kirjoittaa päivitys!

Nails, wreaths and gardens

I'm pretty sure I've mentioned this before, but it's spring! Like an actual spring! It's been pretty warm already and the cherry trees are blossoming! We've been doing barbecue (we got a new grill as the old one was not as good as my man wanted it to be) and a lot of gardening, and we have to assembly the shit out of our new garden furniture...

As mentioned, we've been doing gardening. Cutting trees and bushes, and one bush we took out completely. We will either get a cherry tree of our own, or my long time dream magnolia tree. We will also get some raspberry bushes, rhubarb and or course more strawberries. 

I call our weekend slavecamps. We have so much things to do, and so little time to get everything done. This weekend we had rented a van for a day, and we took all the cardboard boxes that were remaining from the move (the broken ones and the packing material) and some garden waste to a recycling center. Then we drove to OBI, a hardware store, to pick up some material to build a little bit of fence. Then we drove to our friend to pick up my mattresses that were there for safekeeping. After that we went to Ikea to pick up two more book shelves. Then we unloaded the van, went to get our groceries, figured we needed to visit another OBI, had döners in the middle of all, drove back to the recycling center to pick up some dirt for the garden and went to OBI the third time to pick up some more fence material as we realized we needed more of it. And all of this before returning the van at 5pm. Goddamn. And after all we needed to be at my colleague's place at 6pm for our movie night! Today we've been just relaxing and enjoying the comforts of our sofa... Although I did a little bit of arts and crafts! My new spring wreath for the front door is finally ready! I might add some glitter spray still but at least for now it's done and I am very pleased with the end result.

We've also started our biking season. My bike is still in the garage (dead battery), but my man has taken his bike out and we went together on his bike to our first small bike tour of the season.

I have also made myself new set of nails. Now, I hated the previous ones, but these? Oh man, these I absolutely love! Look at the shimmer, look at the shape, look at the little heart!

And the puppies have both sleeping bags in the bedroom. We had one already, but they were always fighting for who gets to sleep in there. It was Hirmu's favorite bed, but Hannibal often drove her away. So, we fixed the problem by getting a second sleeping bag, and it is the favorite bed of them all <3

Olen melko varma että olen maininnut tämän ennenkin, mutta nyt on kevät! Siis oikea kevät! On ollut jo melko lämmintä ja kirsikkapuut kukoistavat! Olemme grillanneet (ostimme uuden grillin sillä vanha ei ollut mieheni mielestä tyydyttävä) ja tehneet puutarhahommia, ja meillä on valtava kasausurakka edessä jotta saamme uudet puutarhakalusteet kasattua...

Kuten mainittu, olemme tehneet puutarhahommia. Leikanneet puita ja puskia, ja yhden puskan kaivoimme kokonaan pois. Tilalle laitamme joko oman kirsikkapuun tai kauan haaveilemani magnoliapuun. Aiomme myös hankkia vadelmapuskia, raparperia ja tietenkin lisää mansikoita. 

Kutsun viikonloppujamme työleireiksi. Meillä on niin paljon tehtävää, mutta niin vähän aikaa saada kaikki tehtyä. Tänä viikonloppuna olimme vuokranneet pakettiauton päiväksi, ja veimme muutosta jääneet pahvilaatikot (rikkonaiset ja pakkausmateriaalit) ja puutarhajätettä kierrätyskeskukseen. Sitten ajoimme OBIin, rautakauppaan, noutaaksemme materiaalit pieneen aitaan. Sitten ajoimme ystävämme luo hakemaan patjani säilöstä. Tämän jälkeen menimme Ikeaan hakemaan kaksi kirjahyllyä lisää. Sitten purimme pakun, kävimme ruokakaupassa, kävimme toisessa OBIssa, söimme dönerit kaiken keskellä, ajoimme takaisin kierrätyskeskukseen hakemaan multaa puutarhaan ja sitten menimme OBIin kolmannen kerran hakeaksemme lisää aitatarvikkeita, sillä tajusimme että tarvitsimme sitä lisää. Ja kaikki tämä ennen kuin meidän piti palauttaa paku viideltä. Huhhuh. Ja sen jälkeen meidän piti olla kuuteen mennessä kollegani luona leffailtaamme varten! Tänään olemmekin vaan rentoutuneet ja nauttineet sohvamme mukavuudesta... Joskin tein vähän askarteluhommia! Uusi kevätkranssini etuoveen on vihdoin valmis! Saatan vielä lisätä glitterisprayta, mutta ainakin toistaiseksi se on nyt valmis ja olen erittäin tyytyväinen lopputulokseen. 

Olemme myös aloittaneet ajokautemme. Minun pyöräni on vielä autotallissa (tyhjä akku), mutta mieheni on ottanut pyöränsä ajoon ja menimme yhdessä hänen pyörällään kauden ensimmäiselle pienelle ajelulle. 

Olen myös tehnyt itselleni uudet kynnet. Vihasin edellisiä, mutta nämä? Voi pojat, näitä todellakin rakastan! Katsokaa kimaltelua, katsokaa muotoa, katsokaa pientä sydäntä!

Ja ipanilla on molemmilla makuupussit makuuhuoneessa. Meillä oli yksi jo ennestään, mutta siitä tapeltiin jatkuvalla syötöllä kumpi saa nukkua siinä. Se oli Hirmun lempipeti, mutta Hannibal usein ajoi Hirmun pois. Niinpä ratkaisimme ongelman ostamalla toisen makuupussin, ja se on kaikista pedeistä lempparein <3

Finland, pt2

As I wrote, during my visit to Finland I did also visit Tallinn! When I still lived in Finland, we had a tradition with one of my friends. The tradition was that we went to Tallinn at least once a year, most often twice a year, to go to a huge arts and crafts store, fabric store and one mall. It was always about spending time together and hoarding supplies. Not that there would've been any real need for hoarding... After I moved to Germany we have had only one opportunity to go to Tallinn, and this time I made sure that I would have time and we could revive our tradition with my friend. So, off we went!

Did come back empty handed? No we did not. The arts and crafts store was just as big as before. It was even better organized and maintained, and when I arrived to my favourite yarn section, I think I  hear a vein popping in my head. There was several new color combinations to it, and all I could think of was "that'll be a shawl! And that'll be a shawl! And so shall that be a shawl!". You got the idea, right? And this is what I came back with: 

In addition to that I also found some cool chains and other material for my next project (jacket made of bits and pieces of different fabrics). After the hoarding we went to the mall, but from there we did come back empty handed. Not with empty bellies though as we enjoyed some waffles! 

Rest of the Finland was what it usually is: driving here and there, visiting friends, doing the absolutely necessary shopping (like pastilles for dry cough that you can't get from Germany and that are the life savior whenever I get a small or bigger flu) and of course eating certain foods that I crave whenever I'm visiting home. Like Hesburger!

Obviously one very big thing on my shopping list always is salmiakki - licorice. It's my thing, it always has been my thing, but living abroad forces me to drag ridiculous amounts of it with me. Luckily there are plenty of places where to refill my bags. 

In the end I wanted to share how awesome my favourite shopping mall in Helsinki has become. I've visited the place probably the last 20+ years, as long as I lived in Helsinki I popped in there. After I bought my first car, it was even easier. They have added parts in the mall, made it bigger here and there, and during the past few years they had spent considerable amount of time and money to give it a facelift. During this facelift they also added a proper movie theater with IMAX right in the middle of the thing! Super cool and for a moment I almost thought I was in Canada or US. Well done. Here in Germany one of the things I miss most is proper movie theaters. They do have them here too, but since everything is dubbed in German, which is simply incomprehensible to me, I go to see only the original versions. The sad part is that they are always shoved into the smallest theaters possible and I never get to see movies from a proper screen. Not like I'm used to. 

And then it was time to head home! My bags were full - luggage very full and back bag even fuller if possible. It was very good to visit, but it was good to go back home. That is what Germany is. I might never learn to really like this country or the people, and I probably will always see Munich in a different light than others, but my life is here now. My home is here now. My man is here, my puppies are here, and after a long time I feel I'm myself again. Really myself. It's a good feeling.

Kuten kirjoitin, vierailuni aikana kävin myös Tallinnassa! Silloin kun vielä asuin Suomessa, oli meillä ystäväni kanssa perinne. Perinne oli että kävimme Tallinnassa ainakin kerran vuodessa, yleensä kahdesti, käydäksemme valtavassa askartelutarvikeliikkeessä, kangasliikkeessä ja ostoskeskuksessa. Kyseessä oli aina ajan viettäminen yhdessä ja tarvikkeiden hamstraus. Ei sillä että hamstraamiselle olisi ollut mitään varsinaista tarvetta... Sen jälkeen kun muutin Saksaan olemme käyneet Tallinnassa vain kerran, ja tällä kertaa varmistin että meillä olisi aikaa elvyttää perinteemme ystäväni kanssa. Niinpä lähdimme matkaan!

Tulimmeko takaisin tyhjin käsin? Emme tulleet. Askartelutarvikeliike oli aivan yhtä iso kuin ennenkin. Se oli vieläkin paremmin järjestetty ja hoidettu, ja kun pääsin lempilankaosastolleni, luulen että kuulin miten päässäni poksahti suoni. Hyllyssä oli useita uusi väriyhdistelmiä, ja pystyin vain ajattelemaan "tästä tulee huivi! Ja tästä tulee huivi! Ja niin tästäkin tulee huivi!". Käsität varmasti, vai mitä? Ja näiden kanssa tulin takaisin: 

Sen lisäksi löysin hienoja ketjuja ja muita materiaaleja seuraavaa projektiani varten (takki joka tehdään erilaisista kangastilkuista). Hamstraamisen jälkeen menimme ostarille, mutta sieltä tulimme takaisin tyhjin käsin. Mutta onneksi emme kuitenkaan tyhjin vatsoin sillä söimme vohvelit!

Loppuaika Suomessa oli sitä mitä se yleensäkin on: sinne tänne ajelemista, ystävien tapaamista, välttämättömyyksien ostamista (kuten kuivaan yskään tarkoitettujen pastillien hankkimista joita ei Saksasta saa ja jotka ovat pelastus joka kerta kun sairastan pienen tai isommankin flunssan) ja tietenkin tiettyjen ruokien syömistä joita himoitsen joka kerta Suomessa ollessani. Kuten Hesburgeria!

Luonnollisesti yksi erittäin iso asia ostoslistallani on aina salmiakki. Se on minun juttuni, on aina ollut minun juttuni, mutta ulkomailla eläminen pakottaa minut raahaamaan naurettavat määrät sitä mukanani. Onneksi paikkoja, joissa voin kassini täyttää, on useita. 

Lopuksi haluan jakaa kuinka hienoksi lempiostarini Helsingissä on remontoitu. Olen käynyt ko. paikassa varmaankin viimeiset 20+ vuotta, niin kauan kuin asuin Helsingissä piipahtelin siellä. Sen jälkeen kun ostin ensimmäisen autoni, se oli vieläkin helpompaa. Ostariin on lisätty aikojen saatossa osia, sitä on suurennettu sieltä täältä, ja muutaman viime vuoden aikana ostariin on sijoitettu runsaasti aikaa ja rahaa ison kasvojenkohotuksen muodossa. Tämän kasvojenkohotuksen aikana sinne lisättiin myös kunnon leffateatteri! Ihan mahtavaa ja hetken aikaa melkein luulinkin että olin Kanadassa tai Jenkeissä. Hyvin tehty. Täällä Saksassa yksi asia joita kaipaan eniten on kunnon leffateatterit. Toki niitäkin täällä on, mutta koska kaikki dubataan saksaksi, mikä on minusta yksinkertaisesti käsittämätöntä, käyn katsomassa vain versioita vain alkuperäiskielellä. Surullista on se, että originaaliversiot laitetaan aina pienimpiin saleihin enkä koskaan näe elokuvia kunnon kankailta. En niin kuin olen tottunut. 

Ja sitten olikin aika suunnata kotiin! Laukkuni olivat täynnä - matkalaukku todella täynnä ja reppu sitäkin enemmän täynnä jos mahdollista. Oli hyvä käydä vierailulla, mutta oli hyvä palata kotiin. Sillä sitä Saksa on. En ehkä koskaan opi todella tykkäämään tästä maasta tai ihmisistä täällä, ja luultavasti aina näen Münchenin eri valossa kuin muut, mutta elämäni on nyt täällä. Kotini on nyt täällä. Mieheni on täällä, ipanat ovat täällä, ja pitkästä aikaa tunnen itseni jälleen omaksi itsekseni. Oikeasti itsekseni. Se on hyvä tunne. 

Finland, pt1

As mentioned in the last blog update, I visited Finland. It was a short trip, six days if you include the traveling days, but a lot of fun! My man stayed behind, took care of the puppies and spent some quality time with his buddies while I spent quality time with my friends. After I landed, I picked up my rental car and drove immediately to a supermarket and got myself the first set of treats. Ah, Karelian pies. How have I missed you.

I spent my time with visiting family and friends. I did spend one evening getting some much needed chihuahua therapy too! I do always miss my tiny furry babies when I'm away. Of course it was pretty nice to spend time with the chihuahua's family too ;)

I also spent one full day with my godsons, their little sister and parents. It was super awesome day and I hope the boys enjoyed it as much as I did! We played Trivial Pursuit, the boys explained to me how Magic the Gathering works (no idea, I was lost after the first sentence and got scolded for asking too many questions :D) and just spending time together. 

In the evening it was time for another friend, and we went to the new shopping mall called Redi and a brand new café that was opened there. The shopping mall itself was such an annoying place that I could've kill someone. We parked my rental car in a parking hall, but nowhere did they mention that by the way, we will close all the elevators leading to that parking hall by 9pm. We left the café around 10pm, and spent the next HOUR trying to find a way to the parking hall! In the end angry security guy came to explain that we need to go to the end of the street and turn left and look for an elevator with a painting of a seagull and that specific elevator would take us to the right parking hall! Then the damn elevator certainly was not at the end of the street but in the middle of the damn mall and I got even more pissed off if possible. They actually have designed that mall like this!! What the hell were they thinking?? Lets build a mall that no one will for sure ever visit a second time and lets make sure they don't find their car even if they do end up coming for a visit?! Geez! 

The café itself was a pretty cool place. It's built around a indoor skydiving tunnel and you get to see how people practice flying! 

And then it was time to head to Tallinn... To be continued in a new post!

Kuten mainitsin edellisessä blogipäivityksessä, kävin Suomessa. Kyseessä oli melko lyhyt reissu, kuusi päivää jos lasketaan matkustuspäivät mukaan, mutta erittäin hauska reissu! Mieheni jäi Saksaan, huolehti ipanoista ja vietti laatuaikaa poikien kanssa sillä välin kun minä vietin laatuaikaa ystävieni kanssa. Kun olin laskeutunut, noudin vuokra-autoni ja ajoin välittömästi supermarkettiin hakemaan ensimmäisen satsin herkkuja. Ah, karjalanpiirakat. Kuinka olenkaan teitä kaivannut.

Vietin aikani vierailemalla perheeni ja ystävieni luona. Yhden illan vietin saaden kaivattua chihuahuaterapiaa! Ikävöin aina pieniä karvaisia vauvojani kun olen reissussa. Tottakai oli myös varsin mukavaa viettää aikaa chihuahuan perheen seurassa ;)

Vietin myös päivän kummipoikieni, heidän pikkusiskonsa ja vanhempiensa kanssa. Päivä oli aivan mahtava ja toivon että pojat nauttivat siitä yhtä paljon kuin minä! Pelasimme Trivial Pursuitia, pojat selittivät minulle miten Magic the Gathering toimii (ei mitään käsitystä, putosin kärryiltä ensimmäisen lauseen jälkeen ja sain moitteita kun kysyin liikaa kysymyksiä :D) ja vain vietimme aikaa yhdessä. 

Illalla oli aika tavata toista ystävää, ja menimme käymään uudessa ostoskeskuksessa nimeltä Redi ja uudessa kahvilassa joka sinne on avattu. Ostari itsessään oli niin ärsyttävä paikka että olisin voinut murhata jonkun. Pysäköimme autoni parkkihalliin, mutta missään ei mainittu että ai niin, suljemme kaikki parkkihalliin vievät hissit klo 21. Lähdimme kahvilasta kymmenen aikaan, ja vietimme seuraavan TUNNIN yrittäen löytää tietämme parkkihalliin! Loppujen lopuksi vihainen vartija tuli kertomaan että meidän pitää mennä kadun päähän ja kääntyä vasemmalle ja etsiä hissi jossa on lokin kuva ja se hissi vie meidät parkkihalliin!! Se hiton hissi ei todellakaan ollut kadun päässä vaan keskellä koko hiton ostaria ja minulla meni vielä enemmän, jos mahdollista, herne nenään. Ostari on oikeasti suunniteltu tällaiseksi!! Mitä helvettiä suunnittelijat ovat ajatelleet?? Että rakennetaan ostari jossa kukaan ei todellakaan käy toista kertaa ja varmistetaan että jos joku käykin niin ainakaan he eivät löydä enää autoaan?! Jeesus! 

Kahvila itsessään oli varsin cool paikka. Se oli rakennettu vapaalentotunnelin ympärille ja sait katsella miten ihmiset harjoittelivat lentämistä!

Ja sitten olikin jo aika suunnata Tallinnaan... Siitä seuraavassa blogissa!

Gardens, boots and treats

It seems that spring has arrived to Munich. Today it was warm enough to be outside without a jacket. I did some gardening as we have a big yard to tend. There is lots of figuring out to do how to get the mot out of it - the previous owners clearly have not cared for gardening and there is no consistency in anything and the bushes, plants and trees are all neglected. Also the grass itself is in bad condition, so this spring and summer will be mostly just caring for the garden to give the plants some direction where and how to grow. 

It is also time to grow! I used to grow all my summer flowers, salads and herbs myself back in Finland, but here in Germany I haven't had the chance to do that until now. The first apartment, although having a tiny backyard of its own, had no direct sunshine so nothing grew there. The second apartment had two balconies to be fair, but they were in direct sunlight the whole day so that was too hot. Also the downstair neighbor was an a**hole who complained about every single thing, so watering any plants in the balcony was not an option either. But now - now there is the yard, the light, the space, the everything! 

I have also moved on to a new book in my German studies. A2.2 here we come! I did the first homework of the book this morning, and it took me "only" three hours... That's what it is what to expect in the future I guess. 

I also did myself new nails already a week ago. And I hate them. I had a great idea, I watched a tutorial, I had new colors and new things to try out, and the end result was horrible. I re-did the decorations of two nails in both hands, but I still hate them. I have gotten a little used to them during the past week, but I can't wait enough time to have passed to do new ones. 

I don't know how it happened, but somehow these ended arriving to me couple of weeks ago. It must've been an accident. But ain't they p-r-e-t-t-i-e-s?! 

We were also enjoying some live music little over a week ago. Godsmack came to town, and I got the tickets as a Christmas present for me and my man. They guys played well, sure enough, but there were just a little too much talking. The lead singer was a fan of jokes and stories, but those always kill the mood a bit. Compared with the show Shinedown threw, this was not nearly as professional. But live music is always good, and the guys were good - when they played. 

In the puppy front all is well. Hirmu has found a way to commit a suicide. She for some weird reason likes to crawl between two pillows, and couple of times we have almost crashed on top of her when laying in the sofa. Oh and I ordered some treats for them. The dry food was about to be finished, so what better opportunity to fill their treat cupboard? I might've gone a little overboard...

Next week I'm going to Finland! I'll be there for a long weekend only, but it'll be awesome to get to be with my people for a long, long time. I'm also going to Tallinn for a day with one of my friends since that was our tradition at least once a year when I still lived in Finland. About time to get back to the traditions! Näyttää siltä että kevät on saapunut Müncheniin. Tänään oli niin lämmintä että ulkona tarkeni ilman takkia. Tein hieman puutarhahommia sillä meillä on iso piha jota ylläpitää. On paljon suunniteltavaa jotta miten siitä saada kaikki mahdollinen irti - edelliset omistajat eivät selkeästi ole olleet puutarhaihmisiä eikä missään ole suunnitelmallisuutta ja pensaat, puut ja kasvit ovat kaikki laiminlyötyjä. Myös ruoho itsessään on heikossa kunnossa, joten tänä keväänä ja kesänä keskitymme puutarhan kunnostamiseen jotta kasvit saavat hieman suuntaa miten kasvaa. 

On myös aika kasvattaa! Minulla oli tapana kasvattaa kaikki kesäkukkani, salaattini ja yrittini siemenistä Suomessa asuessani, mutta täällä Saksassa minulla ei ole ollut siihen mahdollisuutta ennen kuin nyt. Ensimmäisessä asunnossa, vaikka siinä olikin pieni takapiha, ei ollut lainkaan suoraa auringonvaloa joten siellä ei kasvanut mikään. Toisessa asunnossa oli toki kaksi parveketta, mutta niihin paistoi aurinko koko päivän joten siellä oli liian kuuma. Lisäksi alakerran naapuri oli m*lkku joka valitti ihan jokaisesta asiasta, joten kasvien kasteleminen parvekkeella ei ollut vaihtoehto. Mutta nyt - nyt on piha, valo, tila, kaikki! 

Olen myös siirtynyt uuteen kirjaan saksan opinnoissani. A2.2, täältä tullaan! Tein ensimmäiset kotiläksyt uudesta kirjasta tänä aamuna, eikä siihen mennyt kuin "vain" kolme tuntia... Tätä se kai sitten on tulevaisuudessa. 

Tein itselleni myös uudet kynnet jo viikko sitten. Ja inhoan niitä. Minulla oli hyvä ajatus, katsoin tutoriaalin, minulla oli uusia värejä ja juttuja kokeiltavaksi, ja lopputulos oli kamala. Tein kahden kynnet koristelut molempiin käsiin jo kertaalleen uusiksi, mutta silti inhoan niitä. Olen ehkä hieman tottunut niihin viimeisen viikon aikana, mutta en malta odottaa että on kulunut tarpeeksi aikaa jotta voin taas tehdä uudet. 

En tiedä miten tässä näin kävi, mutta jotenkin nämä saapuivat pari viikkoa sitten. Sen oli pakko olla vahinko. Mutta eivätkö ole s-i-e-v-ä-t?!

Olemme myös nauttineet livemusiikista reilu viikko sitten Godsmack saapui kaupunkiin, ja hankin meille mieheni kanssa liput joululahjaksi. Jampat soittivat hyvin, luonnollisesti, mutta puhetta oli vähän liikaa. Laulaja tykkäsi kertoa vitsejä ja tarinoita, mutta ne tappoivat fiiliksen. Kun verrataan Shinedowniin, ei tämä ollut lähellekään yhtä ammattimaista. Mutta livemusiikki on aina hyvää, ja jampat olivat hyviä - silloin kun soittivat. 

Ipanoilla kaikki on myös hyvin. Hirmu on löytänyt tavan tehdä itsemurha. Jostain kummasta syystä Hirmu tykkää mönkiä kahden tyynyn väliin, ja ollaan muutaman kerran litattu Hirmu kun ollaan heittäydytty sohvalle. Niin ja tilasin myös herkkuja ipanoille. Kuivamuona oli lopussa, joten mikäpä olisi parempi tilaisuus täyttää herkkukaappi? Saatoin ehkä hieman ampua yli...

Ensi viikolla olen menossa Suomeen! Olen siellä vain pitkän viikonlopun, mutta on mahtavaa viettää pitkästä, pitkästä aikaa aikaa ihmisteni kanssa. Olen menossa myös Tallinnaan päiväksi ystäväni kanssa sillä se oli meidän traditiomme käydä vähintään kerran vuodessa Tallinnassa silloin kun vielä asuin Suomessa. Jo on aikakin palata traditioiden pariin! Nähdään reissun jälkeen! 

Lil' bit o' crafting

Days have been busy as one can imagine. The usual work stuff, bicycling home and a little bit of sofa time before it is time to go to bed. We were supposed to go to Innsbruck last weekend, but unfortunately my man got very sick with a proper flu. That meant however that I had the opportunity to do a little crafting. I had made a design for my new small purse few days ago, and last weekend was the time to start. I was too excited to take any pictures while working, so there's only a written explanation to give :D

I made a pattern based on the design. As material I used old jeans, and I cut slices of different sizes and forms. Then I ironed stronger fabric on the back side to give them extra support, and then it was time to get sewing. As all the slices were of different shape and curving to weird ways it was nothing but a nightmare to put them together. Slowly but surely I did manage, and then followed the rest: attaching zipper, d-rings for straps and so on. I also used a little bit of chain to give it personality. The keyring I got from New Rock Shoes when ordering a new pair of beauties... (oh yeah, I have to take a picture of them too!!)

Today I finished the purse and I have to say I am pretty pleased with the outcome. Of course it is not perfect; there are A LOT of lines that could've been so much straighter/better, but it still turned out to be pretty ok. I will definitely use this little thing!

Päivät ovat olleet varsin kiireisiä kuten arvata saattaa. Normaalit työjutut, fillarointi kotiin ja pikkuisen sohvalla oloa ennen nukkumaanmenoa. Viime viikonloppuna meidän piti mennä Innsbruckiin, mutta valitettavasti mieheni sairastui kunnon flunssaan. Se tosin tarkoitti sitä että minulla oli hieman aikaa askarrella. Olin tehnyt designin uuteen pieneen laukkuuni muutama päivä aiemmin, ja viime viikonloppuna oli aika aloittaa. Olin liian innoissani ottaakseni kuvia työvaiheista, joten tarjolla on vain kirjoitettu selitys :D

Tein kaavat designin perusteella. Materiaalina käytin vanhoja farkkuja, ja leikkasin erikokoisia ja -muotoisia suikaleita. Silitin kovikekangasta nurjalle puolelle lisätukea antamaan, ja sitten oli aika ommella. Koska suikaleet olivat eri mallisia ja kaartuivat outoihin suuntiin oli ompelu painajaismaista. Hitaasti, mutta varmasti homma eteni, ja sitten seurasi loput: vetoketjun kiinnittäminen, d-lenkit hihnaa varten ja niin edelleen. Laitoin myös hieman ketjua antaakseni laukulle hieman persoonallisuutta. Avaimenperän sain New Rock Shoesilta kun tilasin uuden parin kaunottaria... (ai niin, niistä pitääkin ottaa myös kuva!!)

Tänään sain laukun valmiiksi ja täytyy sanoa että olen melko tyytyväinen lopputulokseen. Eihän se nyt täydellinen ole; on PALJON saumoja jotka olisivat voineet olla niin paljon suorempia/parempia, mutta kyllä siitä silti ihan ok tuli. Aion todellakin käyttää tätä pikkuista!

Flowers, jackets and bikes

Despite jinxing it, I declare spring having begun! Temperature rises during days well over 10 degrees and sun has been shining for a while now. One sure sign of spring is motorbikes and motorbike fair. That event took place during the past weekend and of course we went there. It was packed already early in the morning when we arrived.

I did find myself new pair of riding gloves. Finally! I've been searching them for a long time, but because of my nails, it's been almost impossible to find some that would actually fit. But these are perfect and I don't have to shorten my nails even the tiniest! I was also looking for a driving jacket as my old one is not really that good. I didn't find that, but luckily enough I found a leather jacket to make the disappointment to go away!

I did also find my potential new bike. As much as I like my Brutale, it is high torque and I hate that. I like low torque bikes, but I'm also very picky what it comes to the looks. On top of that the bike has to be low and light. KTM has one that fits with the low torque demand, but otherwise it doesn't please my eye at all. Plus it's too high for me. My dream bike is Buell that I had back in Finland long time ago, but since they stopped manufacturing it ten years ago, it makes no sense to get one of those. Ducati has one model and this spring they brought new color scheme for it and it was stunning! It is also very low and pretty light. Ducati Café Raser might be The One. 

It was also Valentine's Day last week. It's not really a big deal for us in Finland, so me and my man didn't feel like any special celebration would be in place. He did, however, being the sweetheart he always is, bring me these <3

Huolimatta siitä että saatan pilata jotain, julistan kevään alkaneeksi! Lämpötila nousee päivisin yli 10 asteen ja aurinko on paistanut jo jonkin aikaa. Yksi varma kevään merkki on moottoripyörät ja moottoripyörämessut. Ne olivat menneenä viikonloppuna ja tietenkin menimme sinne. Siellä oli aivan täyttä jo aikaisin aamusta jolloin olimme perillä. 

Löysin itselleni uudet ajohanskat. Vihdoinkin! Olen etsinyt niitä jo pitkään, mutta koska kynnet, on ollut melkein mahdotonta löytää sopivia. Nämä ovat kuitenkin täydelliset eikä minun tarvitse lyhentää kynsiäni lainkaan! Etsin myös uutta ajotakkia sillä vanha ei ole niin hyvä. Sitä en löytänyt, mutta onneksi löysin nahkatakin lohdutukseksi!

Löysin myös potentiaalisen uuden pyöräni. Niin paljon kuin pidänkin Brutalestani, se on korkean väännön kone ja inhoan sitä. Pidän matalan väännön koneista, mutta olen myös hyvin kranttu mitä tulee ulkonäköön. Sen lisäksi pyörän täytyy olla matala ja kevyt. KTM:llä on yksi joka täsmää matalaan vääntöön, mutta muuten se ei juurikaan miellytä silmääni. Lisäksi se on minulle liian korkea. Unelmapyöräni on Buell joka minulla oli Suomessa kauan sitten, mutta sen valmistus on lopetettu kymmenen vuotta sitten eikä sellaista ole mitään järkeä hankkia. Ducatilla on yksi kiva malli ja tänä keväänä siitä tuli uuden värinen versio ja se oli upea! Se on myös hyvin matala ja melko kevyt. Ducati Café Raser saattaa olla Se Oikea. 

Viime viikolla oli myös Ystävänpäivä. Suomessa se ei ole niin kovin iso juttu, joten emme mieheni kanssa kokeneet tarvetta erikoisjärjestelyille. Hän kuitenkin oli oma kultainen itsensä kuten aina ja toi minulle nämä <3
